brooks certainly wasn’t trying to make a play on the ball. He looked to be trying to deliver a premeditated physical hard foul, from behind, to an airborne player moving near full speed. Are you just saying he was trying to make a dirty play but didn’t actually mean for him to be hurt? If you run that sequence 20 times someone gets really hurt maybe 5 or 6 times?

once again, was his specific goal to injure Payton? Probably not. But I think he saw a chance to lay a lick on the best defender on the opposing team and took it. Took it in a way that had a good chance to cause injury. The "Brooks wasn't trying to hurt anyone intentionally" thing is so stupid and I don't understand why people hide behind it to defend guys like him.

If he knows how stupid, reckless and dangerous it is to do what he did, but does it anyway, that means he doesn't care if the other player gets hurt or not. And, in the scheme of what we're talking about, I don't see how not caring if other people get hurt is some significantly better place than trying to hurt someone.

He was grabbing Morant. He wasn’t trying to hurt Morant, but he sure as shit wasn’t going for the ball.

He was trying to grab him to impede his movement…like happens a ton of times in NBA games. He just grabbed in the wrong spot. He wasn’t going for the ball, which Ja was dribbling outside his left leg, nowhere near were Poole grabbed.
