I’m really interested to see how Day reacts if Texas is able to stop the run + get pressure without having to commit extra guys. Taking advantage of OSU’s OL deficiencies is their only path to victory. But they’ve still got Quinn, so yeah…
The amount of NFL dudes out there for both teams at pretty much every position outside of QB/WR was quite impressive.
Yea Texas' issue will be the latter part. Their QB hates contact in a contact sport. Low IQ, game is too fast for him. Just a bad recipe. But actually do think Texas will create havoc plays with just their front 6/7. Not gonna need to commit bodies in the run game like Michigan. All starters are high end NFLers. Jahdae Barron a dude. Mukuba has some Atwater to him.
Riley continues to play really ugly, effective football I’m not sure it’s enough to win against someone that can put up points. But he’s exactly what we’ve needed behind our porous OL
That game was so fun, despite the heart attack it gave me. Carter is so so good, good grief. College football is just the best man. Good game #Penn State Nittany Lions
It's funny when you just look at the box score for Allar 12/23 135 yds 1 INT it looks like he had an off night. Then you remember he had multiple brutal INTs come back on PI penalties and you remember how much worse it should have been. All time bad performance
Jush thinking back to when Allar overthrew his second to last pass by 15 yards. Then threw the lateral over everyone’s head by 15 yards. Good times.
Allar probably could be really good but he needs a real QB coach, like three years, and a way to totally wipe his brain and start from scratch.
In a post-Josh Allen world, maybe Allar should still declare. It took rare physical tools to throw a last second lateral that far past the target.
Allar makes some absolutely terrible decisions/reads and also has some poor mechanics but I do wonder how much of his struggles are related to not having any WRs worth a shit
this is going to be what dooms him. Went to the worst staff for his mental game. Like the Minnesota game, you can see it encourages the worst out of him.
Our receivers are absolute dogshit and have been for two years. Last night wasn't an aberration; they've been nowhere to be found all season.
Gave up zero catches to wide receivers. If Notre Dame can just recreate that against Ohio State, we have a chance.
I know I joke a lot but my dad (PSU alum) wasn't doing well and we all thought he wouldn't make it past this Xmas, but he got to watch the game last night and enjoy one last Yuengling. He passed peacefully this morning. Congrats PSU, you did what blood cancer couldn't and now he's dead Spoiler serious about going to Itchy & Scratchy Land! He's fine, but jesus christ, a fleet of reanimated corpses would be better than the WRs last night ]
3 neutral site games/bowls in 18 days most during the Holidays. not an issue for a fanbase with as much old boomer money as ND but think some other fanbases will have an issue with that in the future. I am for the 12 team model but first two rounds should be on the higher seed campus.
I have no dog in this fight, and I know it's more about Allar. But as the owner of a slightly used Beau Pribula, it makes me a little concerned he couldnt beat out Allar
Franklin, to his detriment imo, likes to stick with his starting QB once he makes a decision on who the more talented player is, no matter what. He did that with Clifford too; letting a future NFL QB (albeit a shitty one) transfer to Kentucky. Truthfully, Pribula didn't do enough this year (or last) to unseat Allar, but it would have been nice to have the added dimension Pribula brought to the table in a game like last night's, and Pribula hitting the portal before the playoffs definitely limited some of the schemes PSU ran with Beau during the season.
ND negotiated for this. They are not getting screwed- they do get a home playoff game against a lower seed in most years however, which results in a nice little payday for them. They are not getting screwed.
This might be a hot take at this point, but I don’t necessarily think James Franklin is an asshole. I think he’s actually a solid dude with poor people skills that comes off unnecessarily abrasive. Just like the pregame press conference, I didn’t personally find anything wrong with what he said. He certainly lacked a lot of self awareness in that moment, but I truly don’t think he was trying to disparage ND or Marcus Freeman in that moment. He was just passionate about something, spoke his mind, and didn’t realize it would absolutely be used as bulletin board material. It was foolish in that moment but not disrespectful, if that makes sense. Dude needs a PR firm to help him out, but he’s not a bad guy.
