the first throw was a clear throw away because what they wanted on the sidelines wasn't open. not sure why people keep bringing that up.
I don’t know if any of it was ever proven, but there’s some pretty gross stuff alleged on him from the Vandy rape/sexual assault saga his final season there. Encouraging destruction of video evidence, contacting the victim, etc.
I don't use their stats, but isn't it plausible that since the second defender remained engaged the entire time that it is only two broken tackles based on their definition?
Franklin has been a walking joke for 4-5 years in terms of his inability to beat the best teams. Everyone in CFB is in on that joke and makes it repeatedly. It's almost impossible to be that person and not have moments in media availability where you come across as defensive or abrasive.
Maybe, but what about the third would-be tackler in that play? Are you saying since the second tackler was still engaged when the third came along that they counted it as one broken tackle? I mean it’s possible, but would think that number of tacklers failing to bring him down would be more accurate.
I think they’re the best out there at trying to quantify new metrics and add new analytics to a sport that of devoid of them in many ways. Their raw data collection is the best in the biz by far. Some of their analysis and grading criteria they throw on top of that leads to dubious results at times, but I at least respect the effort.
Yes I'm saying it's broken tackles and not tacklers avoided. A guy pushing a pile is one broken tackle so this has to be only two to be consistent
This was my thinking. It's all one broken tackle until he disengages and runs more. And he may not have even broken a tackle there since he gets taken to the ground, he just happened to get past the goal line in the process.
…. How could you say no? Clifford was above average, pedestrian, but rarely awful. He would be able to manage that game a lot better than Allar did.
i don’t disagree that he might have made less mistakes but what you guys seem to not put into the balance here is that nd does that to every qb they face. They always play a certain percentage worse than they usually do. Since golden has been hired he did It to almost every single qb he faces. Caleb Williams, cj stroudt and the bad ones also. I bet he would have looked terrible and the same people would make the same excuses as to Why nd is where It is now
Feel bad for Allar. Kid is going to have to either go to the draft or transfer after the heinous shit I’ve seen people say about him today
I don't think they should have been throwing very aggressively to end the game. Hell, you could make the case that the best chance they had to get in field goal range was running the ball. I do not like our chances in an overtime situation at all. Him throwing a pick in that spot was our only path to victory.
Jk. I remember it being not great but didn’t remember last night that it was historically bad. (Also kind of just wanted to take a shot at little Beamer just for fun in the moment)
I hope these kids are smart enough to avoid socials after losing games like this, but they’re just that and it’s appalling what Joe Nobody thinks they can say online without repercussions.
A lot of fans suck. It's universal. Harassing players after a bad performance shows us who the worst of the worst are.
only going to get worse with NIL, unfortunately. they're ostensibly no different than an NFL player to a lot of people now and you know how much those dudes get lambasted if they fuck up.
It was idiotic. Run the bball and see if you can get a chunk play, if not, go to overtime and run it down NDs throat. Penn St was definitely winning that game in OT. ND has to have one of the worst OT records ever.
Warren and those RBs in the red zone were an absolute problem for us. Not sure why Franklin changed his mind to get aggressive on the last drive. I get you picked up 12 on a first down run, but you decided to put it on the ground for a reason. The games was yours in OT. If there’s one decision he deserves any criticism for, it’s that one. Otherwise, I thought he and his staff did a helluva job
We had to try to win the game after the first play of the drive was a first down run. If that got stuffed, you run twice more and go to OT. With 2 timeouts I thought it was the correct call and I would have been pissed if he didn’t try to win the game in regulation.
Rewatched the game from Skycast and some not-that-deep notes: I know I called the clock operator being awful in the third quarter but they were terrible all game. Fire em Love's TD was so wild they didn't even get it in frame I hope Angeli gets the credit he deserves Abdul Carter was so dominant that they announced a sack that wasn't even his just because the PA guy assumed it had to be Carter Allar doesn't throw the ball away. He's averse to just chucking it out of bounds. The two underthrown INTs in the red zone look worse from behind Franklin got timid earlier than I remembered: he did punt safe on 4th and 9(!) in a tie game. No blocked punt attempt, no return attempt. With him going FG safe later it looks even worse there Both offensive play callers did great work on their scripted plays, despite their results. Players just weren't that crisp
All joking about him aside, ND fans are generally appreciative of Angeli. He's a good type of QB to have in a pinch.
They were getting chunk plays running. The QB wasn’t close to good enough to put the game on his shoulders. Maybe a dump off to Singleton. ND had no answer for him.
