Other people provided them above. Should I repeat those facts? Based on who we have on the team at DLine vs in the secondary I think I know where my concerns are. You can worry about pro bowl players if you want, man.
I mean hell Corey Graham is dog shit but it’s Fletcher Cox I should be worried about? Remember Rodney McLeod? He wasn’t mentioned above so there is another player who is far better to this years starter.
If McLeod moves your needle you’ve proved my point. Again this is exactly like last year, the secondary is far and away the worst part of our roster. The ability for the line to get consistent pressure is the only thing that can mask the deficiency.
That I agree with. I think we are saying something similar. I’m not worried about our D Line getting pressure, but I am aware that they need to (obviously). It’s arguably better than last years. I’m worried about our secondary not covering anyone for more than 2 seconds. Corey Graham is a much worse player than McLeod. It’s not close in my mind.
the secondary was damn good against Atlanta and Minnesota last year. they were a weakness last year relatively speaking, but I don’t think nearly to the same extent as this year
How is the OL for Philly this year? I feel like both teams do a great job designing plays that get the ball out quickly. Could really be a reason neither pass rush is very effective. I think the team that can run the ball best should put up enough points to win this game.
Played much better the last six weeks. Peters didn’t play a lot v. Houston and Clowney destroyed Vaitai. Lane Johnson v. Khalil Mack should be good. Lane stonewalled Mack when we played last year
That’s why I was asking for your points. We both know they are garbage. I’m definitely not implying otherwise. I just don’t think it’s that drastic of a drop off. Last year we had the luxury of being up big in a lot of games because the offense was cooking. Atlanta game they were definitely fantastic, Vikings didn’t require much, it was just a route and Keenum isn’t the guy to pull back from that deficit.
secondary has been suspect for the last 5 years whatever the combination of players IMO. This year I'd say I'm a little less confident in the backfield but its not like last year was lights out.
wow they're benching Wiz for Seumalo this weekend. I know Hicks is a load, but I don't think I agree with this move.
Can’t believe they pulled that out. Somebody needs to get Maddox in the film room TONIGHT to work on double moves.
Yeah he needs as much help overtop as possible. Saints are just going to go his way, again and again.
Maddox has been great this year. got caught a couple times tonight but let’s not act like he a weak link. he’s the best corner on the roster right now.
Don’t disagree, but if simple Mitch just ate his lunch utilizing double moves for an entire quarter, Brees will destroy him.
I was going to be in a sour mood for quite some time if we lost that game because we let Trashcan Trubisky beat us
Yup don’t hate the guys at all, and I really like Douglas, but they’re the weakest link. Probably the hardest job in the league.
Douglas and Maddox might be the worst CB tandem in the league and add in Corey Graham and man have no clue how we hold up in the backend against a real QB next week. Going to have to win shootout style like last Feb.
I mean I have to be honest, I’ve spent 1.5 seasons bitching about Darby and Mills but these guys now, good lord. Although Maddox has at least flashed some potential, he had a really bad 2nd half tonight
Howie could draft 3 corners in rd 1 and 2 in April and I’d be like, “Maybe you should take one more here in the 4th, just in case”
We’ll see how far Douglas has truly come, how much Timmy J means to the rush, and what Maddox is really made of.
The problem with Douglas is you can’t fix a 4.7 40, and because of that you can throw a 8 yard slant on him with a 500% success rate. Maybe higher
Defense is still playing pretty fucking well. You can nitpick all you want on the secondary, but this is what has been missing most of the year when we were struggling. Fantastic turnaround by the group as a whole. I’ll take it. At this point we’re playing with house money as I know the deck is stacked against us moving into next week
Add the fact that Bennett cost us 3 points with his stupid penalty in the first half on that big 3rd down and Foles cost us at least another 3 with his red zone pick. We’re playing with a Frankenstein secondary. We’ve known this. Adjust your expectations. We have a rookie, a second year guy, two practice squad level players, and a good backup player at best all playing significant snaps. And we just won a playoff game on the road. Enjoy the ride.
driving 60 yards for the go ahead touchdown on the best defense in the league was impressive as hell.
Had Meatballs and Hot RB sammiches last night. Looks like I gotta do either sausage and peppers or Kraut next weekend.
Douglas's open field tackling is a huge asset though. He snuffs out s quick screens and sideline stuff better than any corner I can remember
