I think Cody might be doing some acoustic stuff, but I'm hearing they'll be done for a while. Might do a couple of shows a year (Eufala would be one of them).
Bleu is good. They were playing my first trip to the Dog, so they got a special place in my heart. Just popped in Pat Green Live at Billy Bob's. Might be the GOAT live album.
Just heard of this guy, good stuff: Band of Heathens - "Rehab Facility" SBD Aggie Theater Ft. Collins, CO The Band of Heathens - Gordy Quist - Judas 'Scariot Blues
Thanks to the Ryan Bingham channel on Pandora, I've been turned onto a guy by the name of Chris Knight. Particularly his acoustic, story songs like A Train Not Running and Send a Boat.
one of the best bands out there, wish more people knew about them. The main lead singer has a voice that rivals just about anyone Chris Knight is definitely one of the top singer/songwriters out there
Speaking of, figured you guys would want some free Bingham tunes. Both Hallelujah and Depression can be downloaded as MP3's at the top of the page. Both are Ryan solo acoustic and are fucking awesome. http://dgold.info/radio/webcast2010/music527
Chris Knight fans, What are some of his tunes that are comparable to Send a Boat or Train Not Running? I really enjoy those sad, acoustic story songs from him.
Got a big July 4th weekend.. Robert Earl and Bruce Robison on Saturday night then Bingham on Sunday night in New Braunfels.. Should be pretty badass
You can DL 2 of his live shows from this link: http://www.archive.org/download/http://www.archive.org/details/ChrisKnight As for your question, these of some of my 'darker' favorites: The added verse around 2:20 gives me chills every time Chris Knight - Rural Route Chris Knight - Heart of Stone Chris Knight - Me And This Road
anybody ever heard Ryan Bingham's CD titled "Poor Boy's Amen"? I downloaded about a year ago, one of his early CDs before Mescalito. I tried to post a link for yall to download but I couldn't find one. It's awesome though, much more Bingham and a guitar, much less of the Dead Horses in it
it's got like a 9 minute version of Southside of Heaven on it. it's pretty sick. Here is a good live bootleg of him from France in '08. http://www.sendspace.com/file/bnyxbe Set 1 : 01. Soundcheck 02. Long Way From Georgia 03. Southside Of Heaven 04. Sunrise 05. Poet Writes His Song In Blood 06. Roadhouse Gypsy Set 2 01. Tell My Mother I Miss Her So 02. Dublin Blues 03. To Live Is To Fly 04. unknown title 05. Closer To You 06. Bandito-> Ghost Of Travelin'Jones 07. unknown title Set 3 01. Foggy Mountain Breakdown 02. Long Way To Vicksburg 03. Can't You See 04. Hurricane 05. Hard Times 06. The Other Side 07. Sunshine 08. Ever Wonder Why 09. Bread & Water
I would like to know the answer to this as well. Here's a rendition of Otis Redding's "That's How Strong My Love Is" done by Bingham for Levi's Pioneer Sessions http://www.levispioneersessions.com/artists/ryan-bingham/
Poor Boy's Amen http://rapidshare.com/files/385426449/Poor_Boy_s_Amen_copy.zip.html Wishbone Saloon http://rs332.rapidshare.com/files/201199396/ryan_bingham_-_2002_-_wishbone_saloon.rar Dead Horses http://rs539.rapidshare.com/files/201231940/ryan_bingham_-_2006_-_dead_horses.rar Poor Boy's Amen and Wishbone Saloon are both good. Dead Horses is pretty much Mescalito but has "Big Country Sky" on it which is one of my favorites.
College Fest lineup is finally officially out and tickets are on sale, a little disappointing but still decent: Wed 8/25-Billy Currington Thurs 8/26-Turnpike Troubadours headline, Casey Donahew early Fri 8/27-Colt Ford headline, Kevin Fowler early Sat 8/28-Jamey Johnson headline, Jason Boland and Bo Phillips both earlier i went and listened to this Colt Ford guy, and i'm not a fan at all. it's like a shitty mix of country and rap. Kevin Fowler puts on a damn good show though
That is the most garbage lineup I've ever seen. That's exactly what happens when they piss off CCR, which in turn, pissed off Stoney, Wade, and Randy. Don't look for those guys to come back anytime soon. Stoney usually plays College Fest. Pretty sad when you don't get No Justice or Stoney who are big time Stillwater guys. Johnny Cooper is playing that Thurs, which would be the only night I'll consider going to. Btw, does anyone know what happened to the Rusty Spur?
no clue, just noticed it was closed down a couple weeks ago. doesn't surprise me though, they never had anyone in there. even when they had the likes of Bart Crow Band playing, there were probably 50 people in there Billy Currington's old stuff is decent, so i don't mind going to that night. and of course i want to see Donahew and Fowler, so the $20 ticket is still worth it
great show last night in Atlanta. small but entertaining; however, the speaker equipment at Peachtree Tavern might be the worst I've veer heard for a concert. Anyhow, you South Carolina boys should expect a good time in Columbia
Dallasdawg, this is litteraly all I listen to now. I can't stand the bs pop shit. I have been listening to mescalito for so long. Virgil, check out "down the river" that song makes you wonder about CK. My two favorite are CK and bingham, slaid cleaves is solid too.
not to be a dick, but that is one of the better known chris knight songs. i'm sure he's heard it, but yes it so detailed to make you think he couldn't make that shit up, but a lot of his songs are just as fucked up.
if it was anything like last night it will be fucking bad ass. there were only like 30 people there so it was a chill ass environment.
Got a friend who is really good friends with him.. Bingham sent him a copy just to see what he thought
hell yeah i cant wait. it's at some small bar on a monday night so I'm hoping its gonna be a similar atmosphere
Had to re-install windows on my computer cause it was fucked and I lost all my music. Thank god for this and the GOAT country music thread so I can start downloading again. Anyone know how to get back to 1.0 instead of 2.0? This two bars shit is annoying.
well fuck...i called the bar today in Charlotte to ask when CDB was gonna be on they say he starts at 10 so me and my buddy show up at 9:45...after about 5-6 songs (and a $10 cover) he says he's done. We ask the guy in front of us and they say he started at a little earlier than 9PM. Only way I can see him unless I go West probably and I'm an hour fucking late tonight
that's crazy. in atlanta, he was supposed to start at 10, but emory quinn (opening act, badass) played until like 11:30, and CDB didn't even finish until almost 2, played all their best jams. oh, and there were maybe 100 people there.
Anyone have links for Robert Earl Keen albums? I'm having a hard time finding any. I use demonoid and there isn't much there. What sites or torrance sites do you guys use for red dirt? Alot of the stuff is hard to find.
