ATTENTION OKLAHOMA FOLK: just cruisin some band tour schedules before i go out. Randy Rogers is playing a free show in Tulsa next Thursday night, with Kevin Fowler opening. that is all
Did you make it to the show last week Penguin? This coming show is on my roommate's birthday and that's what he wants to do for it, so we're definitely going. At Cain's Ballroom too so it's gonna be sick
hand raised...getting out there at about 11:30 or so to give my aunt time to finish setting up, so i can roll up and start on the beer
I'll be at BWW (I think the roof is fixed, can anyone confirm?) to watch FSU. Should be able to roll out at halftime of that game and find some tailgates to hit.
Yessir. It was an awesome show. Got to go backstage halfway into the concert too. They played the entire new CD and about 5-6 of their other songs. Don't get to tailgate though. The stadium is nowhere close to being ready for the game and my dumbass volunteered to help get it all ready. Luckily I have an all access pass and they have shiner bock on tap in the club level
that kind of sucks though...i've been lookin forward to the tailgate almost more than the actual game
My fellow Texas/Red Dirt country guys.. I need some help.. I'm a senior from The University of Alabama.. I was looking in to going in to the commercial real estate business.. I interned with a few big firms the past few summers thinking it would be a great job for me.. Turned out after talking to a bunch of big guys thats it's not the right job for me.. My dad is a really successful person in the oil business, which was my second choice of a career, but I don't want to be known as the guy that is 2nd generation money.. I know I have the job lined up if I want it, but I have to work my ass off to get it which I have no problem doing.. The only thing is that I'm terrified of my dad.. He's a great guy, I love him to death; but we have never really talked about a career.. He still thinks I want to do commercial real estate.. My question to yall is how should I approach this? I know yall probably have some good advice.. Yes I know I just need to nut up and tell him, but I'm just not sure how to approach it.. I just need help yalls help. I figured since all of us guys already share our love in the greatest music in the world that yall could give me a few words of advice.. Thanks in advance
Man one of the hardest things I did was tell my dad I didn't want to work for him. I was terrified but he was extremely supportive. He gave me some great contacts and helped me out more than I could imagine. Just tell him it'll probably go smoother than you think
my thoughts as well. he doesn't really have much of a choice but to be supportive since it's ultimately your decision
Whiskey Myers tomorrow night at the Dog. Myself and a bunch of noles will be there, most will be getting their first taste of red dirt.
Oknole I hate you. I wish I could go to Billy Bobs, wormy dog, etc. Wade Bowen next week though so that's good
dude, literally in the exact same spot. decided oil and gas was right for me a little earlier though, that's why I transferred out here to OU. I would nut up and tell him that oil and gas is really interesting to you and you want to learn more about it. Trust me, when I did this, my dad started forwarding me emails, sending me Landman magazines, sent me reports, etc to browse and check out. After you get on his good side, then start approaching him about the job. Make sure you show genuine interest and get him excited before you approach the job thing. I think I'm going to do my own thing for a year or so (got an internship next summer before I graduate next Dec) before trying to work for him, but I'll definitely ask for a job from him from the start. Show some interest, do some reading, be open and talk to your dad. I think the oil and gas business is set up just right for these kinds of situations (maybe cause I'm biased), these are huge assets that I think a father wouldn't mind passing down and letting his son handle if he was competent enough
Haven't yet ventured to Billy Bob's but it's on my list. October at the Dog is gonna be sick Johnny Cooper No Justice Roger Creager Randy Rogers Mike McClure Just to name a few.
Randy Rogers for free out in Tulsa tonight, but thanks to being an officer in Beta Alpha Psi I can't fucking go Rage x1000000
Gotcha. I often regret not going to UT and going to USCe instead since I'm really looking at O&G now. Luckily I have some family in it and a dad who knows a lot of people around the country, but it's going to be tough coming from a school in Columbia, SC.
Yeah I know they're playing on the 9th at the Dog and want to go, but that same night Eli Young is playing at the Tulsa State Fair, and since it's an all age show that might be easier
I nutted up and told him, sounded like he was really proud and excited to hear the news.. Boomer Sonner and let's beat the fuck out of FSU (my gf goes to OU.. Love that place)
Anyone else excited for the new Jamey Johnson double album? I can't remember the last time I bought two albums in two consecutive weeks.
http://www.themusicfest.com/index2.php?id=home anyone going to this? i would absolutely kill for the chance
Anyone unable to listen to the Aaron Watson live CD, Deep in the Heart of Texas because of those two girls screaming constantly throughout the entire show? I hate those cunts for ruining an otherwise good CD.
I went to Steamboat a couple years back. It was an awesome time but I think it's a little overrated. It's crowded and some of the shows are hard to get to b/c they're on different mountains/resorts.
8 songs in, and it's an awesome album so far. Just found this review if you're interested. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748703959704575453673864373554.html?KEYWORDS=jamey+johnson+guitar+song
Anyone have a link to download it? I want to give it a once over listen, and then I will go out and buy it.
