Thought Ad Astra was somewhat disappointing. My wife said it may have been the most anti-climatic movie she's seen.
Idk why but I’ve always thought Pitt is better when he’s a side character or part of an ensemble cast than when he’s the main/pov character. Will still go see this at some point though bc space grandeur and stuff.
I mean, the effects were great, but it was more introspective than expected. Along the lines of The Thin Red Line.
Ad Astra was really fucking good really glad I didn’t watch too many promos because I assume it’s deliberately being mismarketed
I have no idea what I just watched or whether or not I liked it. Very odd movie. Even the actors seemed like they didn’t know what was happening
I initially had the same reaction as I left the theatre, which has now turned into frustration. All that talent and potential material, and that's what we got? Disappointing.
So much of it just made no sense: Spoiler we know the station is in orbit around Neptune but can’t find it, but Brad Pitt can literally jump from where it was to where it is. We can get to the outer planets in weeks but let’s be sure we have to hand place the nuke Who the fuck are the lunar Road Warriors? What the fuck with th monkey? What the fuck with coward ass copilot when every one is psych evalled every 20 minutes? What the fuck has dad been eating/drinking for 30 years and why is he the same age?
I don't do the 40k world, but did come across this creator and his project Guy does one hell of a job for it being his homebrew Spoiler: Parts 1-4
I'd put it on the same plane as the now-vanished Water World extended cut; the extra background information turns a fun romp of a movie into something approaching great.
Is Water World really that good? I assume it is just because most things that get all that hate actually are, but I never watched it myself
Standard cut is...ok. It's a fun action movie with an interesting premise. But they did an only-on-tv extended cut of it that filled in a lot of back story that made it sooo much better. Honestly I think it's worth a watch just for the set design and action sequences. A huge amount of unappreciated effort went into making the movie. Plus 20-something Jack Black is in it for about 30 seconds
lol well that makes it worth the watch. I'll have to give it a chance some day, Costner is great no matter what.
Liked the trailer up until the generic alien sound the creature made at the end which gives me some pause
just came out today. Will watch some point this weekend. Reviews haven’t been great but I don’t take reviews of sci fi movies seriously
