-Haven't graduated to drinking it neat yet, but I love me some Scotch on the rocks or with some water.
Same. Love it on the rocks. My favorite (best I've had so far) My dad has a bottle of Macallan 30 (I think ~$900 bottle) and probably 10 or so different other scotches aged 20-30 years. He hasn't opened them yet :curses: but I'm there when he does.
This. I've only had Dewar's 12 yr Special Reserve, and Speyburn 10 yr. Going to look for better when they're empty, and have gotten a few recommendations in the whiskey thread. Wouldn't mind some more (think ~$50-$100 level). The heavier the oak flavor, the better.
Good topic. If you're looking for a good single malt for less than $30 for regular consumption, check out Speyburn Highland.
you should put "Sponsored by Ron Burgundy" in the OP. Or at least put something from Anchorman in there
PaulKemp kinda answered my question but I'm a bourbon man and wanting to drink some scotch but have never tried it. What are some smooth scotch's that are good but relatively cheap
I prefer mine with ice but no water. The ice mellows it enough for my liking. Good scotch reallt doesn't need water.
Glenlivet 18 yo is my favorite so far. I really just started drinking scotch though. I have only had about 7 kinds, but that Glenlivet was by far the best I have had to date.
20/20/20/20: love a good Glenfiddich and Dr Pepper or macallan and some OJ shit is money and gets you hella drunk Mixer in 40 dollar Scotch
i have a few glasses of 15 year old glenfiddich around xmas time only time i drink scotch i like it on a rare occasion
very well done. I believed it because I have run into people who mix scotch with coke and think its normal.
Clynelish? About the only one that I can think of that is well known and starts with a C. Very good scotch for decent price.
Forgot about Chivas. Had a bottle of 15 yo and it was OK. Got a 18yo bottle as gift and will prob give it a taste soon.
Chivas doesn't make anything worth writing home about. I'm more of a bourbon guy than a scotch drinker, but when I do venture into the scotch world I always seem to come back to the Macallan 12 year.
I will have to buy a bottle of the Macallan. I agree with on Chivas, the only reason I have a second bottle is it was gift. Pretty cool list I just found. http://www.thefiftybest.com/spirits/best_single_malt_scotch/
Sorry Seavie. I just called the restaurant I usually drink the scotch you're referring to figure out what it is. The asshole who answered the phone said, "Sorry man, you should be more specific next time." It tastes like a goddamn cigar. How much more specific do I need to be? Fuck take out order pieces of shit. Good luck working your way up to waitstaff you incompetent piece of shit.
aha, found the scotch thread why did it die currently in my cabinet oban 14, my hands down favorite glenfiddich 12, house scotch for me glenlivet 16 cask strength, strong as an ox laphroaig 10, so much peat, tastes like a bandaid the dalmore 12 highland park 12 up to suggestions on something new
im relatively new to the scotch game, best ive had is johnny walker 15 yr (green label), thinking of trying lagavulin next. any other suggestions that wont kill my wallet? im a poor college student
glenfiddich 12 is pretty reasonably priced, it's in my opinion the best bang for the buck in scotches. then again, flavor profiles in scotch are so diverse you might think it's crap (but don't tell me that )
