I'm sure you guys have seen it but Twellmans reporting NE outbid us for the allocation spot and will sign Nemeth.
Here's the event breakdown: 1) D.C.- CLB agreed to trade and D.C. Would sign Nemeth. Vermes called Nemeth and said we'd make a play and Nemeth backed out the deal 2). 3 way trade between us OC and CLB. Terms agreed upon. Nemeth's agent doesn't finalize his buy out clause, deal starts falling apart, OC steps up the price for Dom and that deals done. 3). Start negotiating a second deal with CLB to sign him when he gets his buyout finalized. They saw how much we got for Dom and ask for more money. 4). We know Vermes. He isn't going to budge. 5) Earlier today Nemeth finally negotiates his Qatar buy out. NE said they'd pay what CLB was now asking. 6). Fuck MLS and their dumb ass transfer rules* *Until Sargeant decides to play a season for MLS and some poor team will have to pay us a $5 million fee because he's a "homegrown" player of ours.
Would of rathered we sat Gerso and let Labato get his legs under him some more. Oh well, rest up for next week.
Pretty cool that a casual friend of mine/good friend of my sister & brother in law Sam Pierron was honored at Sporting game tonight. He was one of the founders of the cauldron back when they were the wizards playing at Arrowhead. He got his masters in football management from University of Liverpool and also worked for Sporting for a long time & was on the committee that had engineering imput in the building of Sporting Park.
That corner goal was brilliant. The movement, the screens, zusis perfect ball and Rubios finish. I think Lobato has skills but he needs to find himself in the squad. Easy to tell some legs were rested up, best movement we've had in a few weeks.
My buddy pulled an all nighter with Collin last night. Unfortunately he's hurt so the impending hangover won't help us at all. He got him to text/call other Red Bullers starting around 1 AM but I'm sure they all block his number when they know he's going out.
In other good news Ellis may be done forever. Indefinitely suspended due to "behavioral issues and infighting" I believe is the phrase Vermes used. Wasn't allowed in the stadium Wednesday or at the celebration at no other pub on Friday.
I guess Honduras filed a complaint against us because Rose said he was hurt and couldn't play for them but then played for us during the international break. Doubt anything comes from it. Shouldn't affect any open cup matches but they could take points away from us at the end of the year.
I guess they changed the rules for the USL clubs since USSoccer gave them "division 2" status. Sounds like a handful of MLS Dev teams will fold now. SPR was on the list of rumored teams but Vermes came out and said they wouldn't allow it to happen. I think the stadium in Swope isn't big enough so they need to add a couple thousand folding chairs and a handful of portapottys or something.
I don't know what Olivera did at SPR to deserve the call up but you could LITERALLY see the shit pouring down his leg any time the ball came close to him. How the fuck is he our only bench option?
I cant remember the rules exactly but we only have X amount of time to use our Garber bucks before they expire.
In big if true news, it looks like the white puma is coming home. Wednesday night beers at Charlie Hoopers on Jimmy!!!
Yeah. The day after Popovic quit he stepped down from coaching OKC. It's all over twitter now that he's coming back. I think he'd be a really nice grooming project for manager and then let Vermes go back to personnel director. It's a shame we lost Dos Santos, that was a perfect hciw situation.
First, Nagamura got the SPR job instead of puma blanca, kind of a surprise. Second, reports we offered $4 million for Mauro Boselli. Would be a lot riding on some 33 year old legs, I don't know if he'd be able to Hold up all year.
LAFC drafted Blessing. Surprised we didn't protect him because Vermes was really high on him. We traded that Olivera trouble maker to Atl for kenwyn jones and a back up keeper. Then we signed some guy Yohan Croizet, been in the Belgium league, attacking mid, signed to a "DP level contract" but doubt he's a DP.
We're trading SAS to NYC for Khiry Shelton. 24 yr old RW. Will be a sub to make up for the Blessing loss. Not great but some depth.
Holy shit at our roster fuck ups this offseason so far. So that Olivera douches agent is taking us to court over fuzzy contract language and trying to get us to pony up 5 million euros cause we traded him. AND Blessing was supposed to be protected in the expansion draft this year but they filed for and obtained his green card 12 DAYS TOO EARLY making him eligible for the expansion draft.
Keep your eye on Marco Paixao. I’d love for us to find a young promising #9 but all we’ve been linked with this offseason is 30+ year old proven strikers.
Been shopping him ever since the Croizet signing. Sacha going to Orl instead of LAFC facilitated it. I remember hearing in a podcast that we had an estimated $6+ million Garber Bucks saves up already and here’s another 400K. I think they said the 2nd closest team had an estimated right around 4 million.
