http://www.kansascity.com/sports/mls/sporting-kc/article194734154.html Same line every year. “We’re in on some things. We expect to sign a good player very soon. We stick to our philosophy.” It did say we agreed to a contract with 2 strikers already but their clubs wouldn’t release them. May just be fan service who knows. Here’s the thing about that $6 million in Garber Bucks. We either spend it or lose it. Some of it can be rolled over for 1 season I think. Like the stuff from the Dom trade has to be used in 24 months or it’s gone IIRC. And it’s not coming out of Cerners pockets, it’s the MLS’ money, not using every last penny of it would be ignorant.
Portuguese and Spanish papers saying Uri is heading back to MLS. We got paid for his transfer so he’d enter the allocation process like Nemeth.
I think Saad wanted to go somewhere where he could play and Ellis threw a fit last year after not getting playing time even though he was lousy and got kicked off the team more or less.
I never saw it confirmed anywhere but the rumors were he decked EPB after practice last year and Vermes told him never to come back.
I think I read we’re 13th in allocation order. The amount of garberbucks it would take to move up to get him and then sign him probably wouldn’t make it worth it. But, if we’re not going to use them on an attacker why not. Our back line with Uri and Ilie sitting in front of it would be dominant.
https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/foot...sell-to-join-sporting-kansas-city-in-the-mls/ Alright, going the right direction. Still need that money number 9 and attacking midfield help.

NEED striker help and more in the midfield.
We are signing all midfielders. Are we trying to control the ball and score by commitee vs spending on strikers?
Will be the most talented one layer on the team imo. Never really saw him with Betis but he was on Chile’s National team last WC and cops America and WC qualifying. I imagine he replaces Espinoza in the starting line up. Really good on the ball and passing in the midfield. But more attack oriented than def. super exciting signing. I posted about him yesterday cause my friend sent a text saying Rubio knows him from Chile and was working him pretty hard to look to Sporting cause he was eyeing an MLS move. Didn’t ever think we’d actually get him.
I read this morning that Mo Johnson knew Russell because they’re both from Glasgow and he convinced him to sign with us vs resigning in the Championship or looking at other MLS sides.
He’s been in KC since late last week. Sounds like they’re just working with agents and lawyers to finalize everything. Edit: And hopefully the snow doesn’t scare him away. I don’t know much about Seville but I don’t think they get many snow storms there.
I wonder what’s going to happen with the swope soccer complex? Sporting and SPR will be training at the USSF facility. SPR is playing home games at SMS (maybe, can’t remember which HS it is) this year.
And Ellis is at FCD’s training camp not ours. Hopefully they like him so we can get something in return.
Striker search 2018 officially over with this move imo. We had 2 spots and used one on Pipe. Unless they’re expecting a green card soon you gotta think we’ll wait till the summer window to find a 9.
“That’s not necessarily true,” said Vermes from training camp in Arizona. “We still have a spot at this moment. And we probably have Daniel Salloi getting his green card soon as well.” “We have a pretty good idea of what our situation is regarding international spots…, so it made a lot of sense for us to take advantage of that now where we could get some cash that helps us with some other things we’re still trying to do,” Vermes elaborated. “It’s smart business at this time.”
15 year old Busio serving it in and 19 year old Hernandez with the volley. Hernandez impressed me last night.
So it looks like Vermes favors this lineup: Our bench would have options of Zendejas, Medranda, Sinovic, Amor, Didic, Evans, Musa, Gerso, Rubio, Salloi. I personally would like a little more fire power and to put Yohan in the middle where he’s most comfortable and useful. We don’t have enough midfield depth to play him on the wing all season. Also gtfo with Lobato being our everyday LB. He looks more comfortable on the ball than last year but his def was shitty in the preseason. I’d prefer to go with this: I think Shelton will be better at CF than Rubio. But Shelton can come off the bench for anyone in the front 3 where as Rubio can’t. I’m ok with which ever one we choose to run with.
McDowells saying that Shelton will be the starting CF. He said he straight up won the job and the coaches were pleased with Rubios performance. Hopefully he provides enough to keep us competitive till the summer transfers start.
