also this one, which doesn't mention sturgill but you can hear his voice/guitar. in hindsight these both may be recorded from SNL, idk, i cant tell. what ever NSIAP
Apparently, he told the crowd last week kid #3 is due this fall and is taking a year off. George Costanza did you see the 420 show?
Yes and thought it was his best appearance yet. “I’m not in the music business, I’m in the Sturgil Simpson business.” was a great line.
I did indeed. Real solid showing and was with a friend who had never seen him live before. Closed with Call to Arms and a guitar smash (no surprise). Said it was their first performance of 2018.
https://www.panicstream.com/vault/widespread-panic-05-06-2018-north-charleston-sc/ Sturgill played a couple of cover songs with WSP last night at Trondossa
Lil Smokies played a Sturgill cover when I saw them in Denver. Wild that he’s getting other bands to cover his songs already
WSP and Sturgill covered JJ Cale and The Beatles Umphrey's McGee has covered Call to Arms a few times to further your point .
July 1st in Houston. Can’t wait. He’s gonna be with willie; anyone have any insight as to who will be headlining?
My guess there is Willie will be the headliner, but just a guess. Sturgill probably plays a full set plus, though.
Not sure if he's been mentioned in this thread before, but Tyler Childers is fantastic. I think most fans of Sturgill will like him, too. Both of his albums are fantastic.
This hits me deep "Then I wouldn't have came stoned To the house of such an angel Too fucked up to get back home"
Yeah. Sturgill's drummer was friends with Tyler and introduced them at some point in Nashville and given their similar background, they hit it off.
He’s the shit. If you listen to old WB Walker podcasts Tyler covers Goddamn Lonely Love, Time, Jolene and a few other songs that push the envelope of better than the original. That said, his originals are A+ as well. Oneida and Shake the Frost are my two current jams. He’s rereleasing his EP on vinyl. Presale on Amazon.
Sturgill > Colter Wall > Tyler Childers also those SNL performances of Sturgill with Chris Stapleton seem to get better every time i listen to them
I have no idea why I didn't like Childers' album the first time I listened to it (just removed it from stuff i downloaded). It's fucking amazing.
I reckon because he is preselling the vinyl re-release now. I gave him the $8 because it will be a while before i catch another show. I enjoy a lotta music for free, but i thought I’d throw him a few bucks. Or 9 cents after everyone else gets a cut. https://www.savingcountrymusic.com/tyler-childers-to-re-release-landmark-red-barn-radio-sessions/
He's currently a no-show in Charlotte. Was supposed to play at 9:30, walked on stage, then walked off. Came back on, looked angry, tossed his hat into the crowd and walked off again. Hasn't returned.
