GOAT YEM, but my favorite part of June every year is revisiting the Japan tour, which is the one tour I would pick to do in the phish time machine.
This is my favorite week. 6/11 and 6/18. I try to save them every year just for a listen on the anniversary.
I always love 6/17 because it coincides with a "where were you when..." life event with the OJ chase. (aside from being just a banger of a show on its own)
Yep. And then you got 6/21 right around the corner which ain’t too shabby. probably the greatest 10 days in Phish history to my mind. But summer ‘94 in general just leaves me in awe.
This CD from Chicago 94 hasn’t left my car CD player in years. I mostly listen to Spotify in the car but it’s always a button push away. Pretty good Tweezer and McGrupp from that disc, too
Back in 05. Brokedown is great. Ballad>Wiser is a thing of beauty Black Crowes 11 June 2005 - Bonnaroo Music Festival - Manchester, TN [ USA ] S E T L I S T Don't Do It Sting Me Cosmic Friend Soul Singing Seeing Things Jam -> Thorn In My Pride Space Captain Hard To Handle -> Jam Ballad In Urgency -> Wiser Time My Morning Song Brokedown Palace - encore - Remedy Link to sbd http://crowesbase.com/tbc050611_mp3.zip
6/11’s second set is a goddamn murderers row of a setlist with them at one of their peaks. I hate to use the word epic but gosh dang
6/11 is pure concentrated Phish extract. Like if you put great Phish in a pot, boiled it down for 10 hours until it reduced, then put it in a vile and dosed it. The only real missing piece for 6/11 is that it doesn’t have that strong 4th quarter anchor to close it out. Mainly because they already used the YEM and Antelope earlier in the show. A Slave at the end would have put it over the top. A minor picking of nits when it comes to discussing elite shows.
Question on this—Does MLB jam start at 30 seconds or around the 9 minute mark? There’s are two little sequences that are somewhat out of place for a Bowie, so I’m just wondering which one counts
I would say it starts at the very beginning. Page is immediately playing the descending cords and Trey jumps on about :22 seconds.
That’s what I assumed, but Bowie proper starts around the 4 minute mark and continues until about the 8:50 mark and a second sequence starts that doesn’t belong in Bowie proper. I’m just wondering if both segments are considered MLB or just the first one?
Oh I know what you’re talking about. The “3 blind mice” jam. I don’t consider that MLB, just more ridiculous type 2 jamming that almost gets to a Simple-esque place for a minute.
Goose premiering pro shot tumble and factory fiction from Saturday night, tonight. Factory Fiction was amazing and only like 3rd time played
Fun Factory Fiction fact. Rick wrote it in 2012ish with his old band Vasudo. Think he was attending Berklee music then. Guy is an incredible song writer
Watching this Goose live stream tonight. This Western Sun is something else. They are really taking it some places. amazing. Highly recommend once the sound boards drop
I love in “Between Me and My Mind” when Trey is trying to explain the type of music they used to play and how weird it is. He’s like “one guy pretty much quit the band because of it” and starts laughing. Poor Jeff.
Yeap. They have unlocked something in this kind of music for me that I really thought was gone forever. And they are still blossoming into what they can be. Beyond excited to see some of these club/small venue shows this fall.
Yeah. The set closer of Western Sun > Echo last night was a really insane 35 minutes or so of music. Western Sun has great lyrics. Then the jam went a little a dark and just kept building. Highlight of the night and so far the tour. The Empress of Organos was really good to.
And to add. The first time I heard SCI and Phish in the 90s I was blown away. moe. is one of my favorite bands, but it was something that grew on me over the years. Listening to Goose these last couple years has me feeling like I did when I first started listening to SCI and Phish. Been a long time since a band just grabbed my attention and put me all in.
6/19/21 Goose last night was amazing. Best I’ve ever seen them play. Live streamed the show last night and it’s one of the best concerts of anyone I’ve ever witnessed. They really got experimental last night and went to some amazing places during multiple songs.
Goose dropping full 6/18/21 show on you tube tonight. I thought 6/19 was better and wish they released that one, but 6/18 is awesome. Also thought 6/16 was better too. Free pro shot of any night is cool though so not complaining
6/18 set list 6.18.21 • Legend Valley, OH Set 1: Flopener {1}, White Lights, Arcadia, Whales, Jive I, So Ready Set 2: SOS, Lead The Way, Seekers On The Ridge Pt 1 & Pt 2, All I Need, A Fifth Of Beethoven {2} Encore: Brokedown Palce {3} Coach’s Notes: {1} Flodown Opener {2} Walter Murphy {3} The Grateful Dead, FTP
*add to watch later Some of these I will watch 2-3 times all the way through before removing from my YT playlist. Looking forward to my show later this year in Dallas/Austin.
6/19/21 premiering on you tube full show. this my favorite Goose show I’ve ever heard as I mentioned above. Awesome night
They must’ve released a lot more tickets for Denver. Both shows sold out in minutes when they first released and now tickets are still available since they bumped capacity.
Not sure this is even the right thread for this, but Ripley Johnson's (also records with Wooden Shjips) new release as the Rose City Band is quite good, if you're into mellow trippy shimmering twangy stuff (think New Riders, later Byrds, Gram Parsons, Workingman Dead, etc. with some JJ Cale shuffle mixed in) I really dig his 1st two releases as Rose City Band too.
yeah. Fans raving about the Elmeg, maduvan > Moby > Madhuvan which were awesome, but I can’t stop spinning that Rosewood Heart
Never got to the end of madhuvan on the stream the other night but going to listen after I finish the 18th.
This is great. I sat out on my patio late last night and listened to all three albums. Really enjoyed them. I love finding new music. Thanks for sharing.
