Saw Daniel Donato at Deebs Days last year. The guy can shred a guitar and his songwriting is solid. Definitely a fan, unfortunately missed them rolling through town last weekend. Gearing up for my first Perpetual Groove show in a while tonight. Excited to check them with the new drummer now that he's gotten some touring under his belt with them.
Nice. Been a while on them for me too. Yeah, Daniel is a definite badass. Him and Taz in Trouble No More is good stuff if you like ABB. Some really incredible young guitar players in/around this space right now. Billy, Rick, Daniel, Taz, Marcus King. Sure I’m missing some.
Man Goose smoked this tour. Been catching up on NY runs and Midnighthuvan is the best music transition to 2023 I’ve heard/seen.
We we’re taking this weekend about doing a NY run next year. Probably will be Goose, maybe Billy pending locations. I haven’t seen a proper NYE show since my Coach Dad started taking us to the CFP. ‘15-Pandemic was football travel, then dropped the ball on planning the last couple years after things opened back up. Almost pulled the trigger on a last minute local Marcus King show this year.
Ordered this as well. Too bad I haven't had my record player hooked up in years. Probably need to change that
holy shit, you ain’t kiddin. This is one of the best sounding releases I’ve ever heard. ::whole home Sonos - ENGAGE::
Anyone do vinyl and Sonos? I’m 100% Sonos home audio at this point, except for vinyl. I don’t think my passive speakers and equipment are worth getting the Sonos Amp or Port, and I don’t think I’ll be upgrading those speakers. More like getting rid of them. Looks I would then need to get a Play5/Five and a compatible TT. Anyone have this setup?
From what I understand, Amp or Port can integrate any passive or non-Sonos equipment into your system and they become a speaker you can select or group. With Play5/Five, you can plug a compatible turntable directly into it. Then you can group that Five with any other Sonos speaker and play your vinyl to any of them. This will limit the TTs you can use and the compatibile ones are more $$.
https://blog.sonos.com/en-us/listening-to-vinyl-with-sonos Yeah, so you need a TT with a pre amp and a Five to plug it in to, or use Amp/Port if you have existing equipment you want to make work. And now it looks like Victrola has wifi TTs that can integrate to Sonos wirelessly, so you wouldn’t need to add a Five with these. https://victrola.com/products/victrola-stream-carbon-works-with-sonos-turntable A little cheaper version that’s on pre-order right now. https://victrola.com/products/victrola-stream-carbon-works-with-sonos-turntable
For you DC area folks. Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country is with Greensky at The Anthem on Saturday. That place is really awesome. Catching them for a solo show in Raleigh on Sunday.
Any hotel recommendations in Atlanta near/around the Eastern? Going for JRAD next weekend and never been there. Google Maps makes it seem like downtown may be best bet. Owsley
Downtown is probably your best bet for hotels. There might be some cool air bnbs/vrbos closer to the venue, though.
You doing all 3 nights Oranjello? I may make Friday or Saturday depending on work and friends. The Eastern is an awesome venue and there’s a lot of good food/drink spots in the area so lmk if you need any suggestions.
Doing Friday and Saturday. I've heard nothing but great things about the Eastern, but know nothing about the area, so any recs would be appreciated. Just the wife and I, so probably going to go with a hotel downtown, fwiw. TIA
Krog Street Market is about a mile away on the Beltline. Has a bunch of really good restaurants. Five Points is a couple miles northeast of the venue with the Vortex, Euclid Yacht Club (great little dive bar with some solid bbq), and the Porter Beer Bar which has a huge selection of craft/micro brews. Nearby the venue though is a Grindhouse Burgers, which I've yet to try, but have heard good things about (though everyone I know who's had both prefer Vortex).
Unfortunately the porter has been closed for renovations for what seems like forever. 3 Taverns imaginarium is right next to the venue and one of my favorite breweries in the city. Oranjello are y’all looking to do a nicer dinner either night or more looking for convenience and quick eats?
Will def check out 3 taverns, then. Convenience Friday, somewhat nice on Saturday, but at the end of the day we prefer dank over formal, so can go either way
Les Claypool’s Frog Brigade to Reunite After 20 Years for 2023 US Tour The group's first live shows since 2003 will include a full-album performance of Pink Floyd's Animals https://consequence.net/2023/01/les-claypool-frog-brigade-summer-2023-us-reunion-tour/amp/ 06/10 – Atlanta, GA @ The Eastern *
Summer tour dates should be dropping soon. Orion Amp in Huntsville is happening. Most likely Wilmington > Huntsville > Alpharetta for the southern run.
The Chattanooga date is at Riverbend Festival. Heard the fest has been in contact with some other jam bands as well, but haven't heard who.
