https://2nu.gs/4kUVfFA Show really picks up at Darlin Cory > Arkansas Traveler. That’s one of my favorite amricana/folk songs and may be my favorite jam of theirs into it, then they usually > a fiddle tune from there. First set was very country/bluegrass, then they jammed out a lot more the 2nd set. Sturgill/Billy/Daniel cosmic country music train is rolling.
Add Rose City Band to this. Not sure how I forgot. Popping that cherry in July. Morning sounds provided by Owsley
Etta Baker - born on this date 1913. One of my favorite random guitar videos on youtube. (wrong thread, whatever)
fyi, when I'm playing with someone else, I'm the person on the left and I always get that same side eye glance when I mess up. That "you're late back to the 1 again, dumbass" look
Haul of psych rock, bluegrass, folk, blues, and jazz from whatnot auctions. Been getting steals from $1-5 from storage room lots. Some classics mixed in. Gracie seems to like bluegrass
Took family to Cosmic Country at the Windjammer. Tried before to take them to a show but the plans fell through. I knew mom would love it, but didn’t expect mom, dad, brother, and nephew to all hit up the merch table and take home hats and shirts. They are smokin. Loved Gold Rush (Bill Monroe) and really like when they jam on bluegrass stuff. Ride Me High was fine but they should leave that cover to Billy.
Savannah this weekend then Cary next week. Sturgill and DelFest in May then I’m laying by the pool or camping until the fall.
Excited for you. One of the rare performers that exceeds the really high expectations you have going in.
Holy shit the man can JAM. Enjoyed the spacey jams in the middle of set 1. Met some good people an an amazing experience all around.
Went to Eggy last night and got talked into this. Yolo. Looks fun and not bad for $100 Kimock, Donato, George Porter, Bowling, TAB, JBG, DSO folks. Check out LaMP if you haven’t. Incredible trio drums, guitar, organ/clavinet. JRAD guitarist and a couple guys from TAB.
If you like LaMP don’t travel an hour to see the Japanese band Lamp by mistake like one of my buddies did a few months ago.
Looks like a good one. Got that Musgrave cover that they do a good job with. Really want to hear that Charleston show from a few nights before. Seen some clips and looks like a heater.
Never heard the original version of this until Spotify suggested it a few weeks ago This feels more like funk than country
I love her comment about having a religious experience deep in the woods under crazy conditions, and like "these motherfuckers are doing this 50 nights a year in a hockey arena in Ohio"
Energy through the roof at Bill Graham tonight. Best Gumbo of 3.0. Simple > PYITE > Gumbo, Reba Tweezer is going to burn it to the ground.
Called a buddy to catch up today, and now I’m going to Nashville tomorrow for WSP with an AAA pass for Saturday and maybe Friday, so that’s tight
Saw that Jarrod sat in with panic. In FL visiting the ladies fam this week and saw that DDCC was in Boca Raton last night. Small venue, great show and crowd.
Everyone on Reddit was clamoring for a Billy sit in, but that’s a nice alternative. The pickin up the pieces they played was real nice
I love Billy but I would not see them near as much without Jarrod and Alex. Team Jarrod. Me and my girl have hall passes on them respectively.
The Pickin' Up the Pieces was real nice. A lot of fun. So was kicking it and watching the second set with Royal and Jarrod
