Lost some pages on this one. Planning on making Jamcruise this year, should be fun http://www.jamcruise.com/2011/artists
Figured with the WSP thread going about bupmping this. Dawson coming thru in the clutch Bear Creek in Novemeber and Jam Cruise in Jan. for me. Bear Creak has a nice lineup and is very afforadable.
Steve Kimock's Crazy Engine, "It's Your Thing" Live @ Revolution Ft Lauderdale, FL 4-24-09 I suggest downloading the newer version of this off I-Tunes by the New Mastersounds, its great Grace Potter - Nothing But The Water 2 - Live at Wakarusa
My 2 favorite bands out there right now, the New Mastersound and Crazy Engine. That version with Grace Potter is awesome.
I was at both these shows and they were great. This is a pay site, but the sound quility is excellent on these 2. http://nugs.net/prodDet.aspx?productType=0&productID=19912 http://nugs.net/prodDet.aspx?productType=0&productID=19914
One of the bests currently making music -- but they're criminally under-rated, of course. CIRCLE is a Finnish act who have been putting out albums pretty much every year since 1993 and their sound is a beautiful amalgamation of jammy psyche-kraut rock, post-rock, heavy metal and prog. This is a track from one of their more meandering albums put out in 2000. It's more "jammy" in the style of this thread so it may be enjoyable to some, though I don't think much of the rest of their catalog would be; Circle - Vereftoi
Not bad Trappist. I will check out the rest of the album. Drums actaully sound like something you would hear on jazz album, WOuld not be surprised to discover the drummer had some kind of jazz background or schooling.. Intersting blend there.
I have still yet to see a better live performance than Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Attended with 4 jazz musicians who sat there with their jaws dropped the entire show. Here's an old school video from when Bela had a mullet: Bela Fleck & The Flecktones - Vix 9 (Live)
Fat bassline in this version... Bass player's dad played for Coltrane "Roch It " Herbie Hancock Future2Future2 Live 2001 Listen to this... You may think the intro is weird, but it grows on you and in a week or two you'll think its fucking badass Herbie Hancock "Watermelon Man" This is on a Jazz is Dead album and they did a great job with it Red Baron
Dawson, I enjoy me some Herbie Hancock. I have not broke it out in awhile, looks like it will be on weekends playlist. Thanks for reminding me that I enjoy it.
Glad you liked it. It's definitely their most jammy album. The drums are kind of derivative of kraut bands like Neu! and later Amon Duul II both of which have their basis in Jazz so I understand the resemblance. If you liked that track you'd certainly like the entire album.
Karl Denson's Lunar Orbit. Only could fins a small clip, but I suggest you go check this song out. Some nice dark/jazz/funk. Trappist, Since I am willing to check out the whole circle album, You must return the favor and check out the whole Karl Denson Trio album titled Lunar Orbit. Karl Denson Trio
Going to drop some U-Melt in here tonight. Great live act, they have a bit of a electronic feel to them so some may or may not like U Melt: A Robbin's Tale Part 2 Through the Prism
Iclips webcasting All Good this weekend http://www.iclips.net/watch/all-good-festival-broadcast Feed is down right now (weather must be fucking with their equipment) but the schedule so far is: Friday 7:15 - Umphrey's McGee 8:45 - Cornmeal 9:30 - Tea Leaf Green* 10:30 - Dr. Didg* 11:00 - Old Crow Medicine Show* 12:15 - Dark Star Orchestra* 2:45 - Lotus Saturday 12:00 - The Macpodz 1:15 - Rebelution 2:15 - TBA 2:40 - Dr. Dog 3:40 - TBA 4:10 - Railroad Earth 5:15 - The Rex jam 5:45 - TBA 7:05 - Perpetual Groove 7:45 - Femi Kuti & the Positive Force* 8:50 - Everyone Orchestra* 9:15 - TBA 10:00 - Widespread Panic 1:15 - TBA Sunday 11:00 - Moonshine Breakfast with Keller and the Keels 12:15 - TBA 2:15 - TBA 2:45 - Grace Potter & The Nocturnals 4:15 - TBA 5:15 - Keller Williams & The Added Bonus I'm hoping those TBA's turn into the Furthur set (pretty sure it's going on right now, not being shown for some reason) or a rebroadcast of the UM show.
Been really getting into Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, and Lee Fields and the expresions. I know its not jam music, but its my thread so fuck it. Lee Fields - Do you love me what have you done for me lately - Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings Lee Fields & The Expressions - Ladies Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings - Naturally - This Land Is Your Land (2005)
Must of missed it. I enjoyed some that circle you posted. repost some of it. I am really into that Lee Fields and the Expressions right now. I can't turn him off, loving the soul singing throw back music right now.
I will post some CIRCLE later -- they're kind of all-over the place so I really think the only album you'd really like would be the album from which that CIRCLE song I posted earlier in this thread came (Andexelt). Their other stuff ranges from Neu! inspired kraut jams to monotonous drone rock to Judas Priest styled heavy metal with sweeping psychedelic keyboards to disjointed, rambling folk. Andexelt is the only album of theirs that I've heard that has that kind of jazzy jam feel to it. I can't say for sure it's the only album of theirs that is like that, because they have 20+ albums out and I've heard, or been able to find 8 of them. Anyway, here is that Jack Rose thread; Jack Rose
Trappist, I meant repost the jack rose stuff. I will check it out tonight and let you know what I think.
Trappist, I enjoy that Jack Rose and downloaded a couple of albums, nice mix of blues and a little bluegrass picking. Guy can play. Even his songs that have more tempo still have a melancholy feel, which in my opinion makes for a nice sound.
While researching Jack Rose I cam across a band that I have not listened to into awhile. I actaully forgot all about them. Not really much for the Jam Band thread, but an interesting group however. Some of you may have heard them. Trappist you may appreciate them. I present to you the Peguin Cafe Orchestra Music For A Found Harmonium THE PENGUIN CAFE ORCHESTRA, Extasy of the dancing fleas - The Penguin Cafe Orchestra-Telephone and Rubber Band
and for you folks that like a more of rock sound. You WSP fans should know this band. I think they are OK, but nothing special, but I figured they deserved a post in the thread. Stockholm Syndrome performing American Fork Stockholm Syndrome "The Kind of Place" 2-23-08 Gothic Th.
One of my all-time favorite bands. I followed them around in college a good bit b/c one of my buddies is the drummer's cousin. Unfortunately, there arent many high quality vids on youtube, but these are decent Tishamingo "Whiskey State of Mind" Telluride B&B 9-14-07 Tishamingo DONT DO IT 12-8-7 tishamingo don't want you no more + it's not my cross to bear Tishamingo 5-30-10 CHEST FEVER TISHAMINGO 5-29-10 SKIN IT BACK TISHAMINGO 5-30-10 BILLY TISHAMINGO 5-30-10 BIG RIVER TISHAMINGO Wastin' Time 12-8-7 Moboogie.net interview with Tishamingo into "Travel On"
Frog Wings Super Blues Jam at The Wetlands Frogwings Featuring John Popper - Among Your Pillows Would love to see Frogwings together for a show.
I have not listened yet, but I hear they brought it though. I plan on giving a good listen this weekend. I have a feeling hornings hideout shows are going to be epic. Sidenote: new mastersonds to open for widespread in NOLA for Halloween. Kind of pissed, I don't want spread heads jumping on the mastersounds bandwagon. One of the best bands touring right now and you can still see them in bar type venues.
fuck widespread is going to be here???motherfucker..i was considering SCI and tDB at hamptons now i have to choose between that and WP and Voodoo even tho voodoo sucks cock this year
Very good SCI show right here. Set 2 is on fire. Download and enjoy http://www.archive.org/download/http://www.archive.org/details/sci2004-03-11_FLAC16
Seing panic for halloween in new orleans this year. 29th,30th, and 31st. Dirty Dozen, Dumpstafunk, and New Mastersounds are opening different nights. Its gonna be a lot of fun
Most likley not. I now have 2 mortgages so budget is tight until I sell my old house. If I can get to go to contract in sept though I will probably make the trip.
