Got home from the bar last night, turned on the Lockn stream, and whattya know Trey and Doyle Bramhall II are sitting in with Tedeschi Trucks Band for a set of Derek and the Dominoes covers. Was quite the treat. Starts at 1h 13m
Derek was also playing a ‘57 gold top Les Paul one serial number off from Duane’s. Same line of production as the guitar used on Layla.
Damn. That sucks. Sad news and prayers to his family and friends Such a great musician. Was hoping to catch Circles Around The Sun now that they tour.
Horrible news. One of the best guitarists going. Glad I was able to see him with CRB all those times.
First time I heard of Neal was during the first set break of the fare the well weekend in Chicago. I just remember thinking what is this fire? Then discovered CATS. I wish I had gone to see them when they came through Atlanta and Nashville.
Sorry, missed this when you posted. Totally agree on the venue. Pretty nice but way too big. They should have played House of Blues, Bomb Factory, or Kessler Topo chico is the shit. That's my go-to NA beverage. You on the wagon? The froyo wasn't in the venue. It was in the shopping center next to the venue Not too familiar with Sanborn. Will check him out..
He's not tooo known, but check out his CV as a session musician. I still enjoy his music - my dad randomly handed down his '92 album Upfront which does slap. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Sanborn He has been a highly regarded session player since the late 1960s, playing with an array of well-known artists, such as James Brown, Bryan Ferry, Michael Stanley, Eric Clapton, Bobby Charles, Cat Stevens, Roger Daltrey, Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, Jaco Pastorius, the Brecker Brothers, Michael Franks, Kenny Loggins, Casiopea, Players Association, David Bowie, Todd Rundgren, Bruce Springsteen, Little Feat, Tommy Bolin, Bob James, James Taylor, Al Jarreau, Pure Prairie League, Kenny G, Loudon Wainwright III, George Benson, Joe Beck, Donny Hathaway, Elton John, Gil Evans, Carly Simon, Guru, Linda Ronstadt, Billy Joel, Kenny Garrett, Roger Waters, Steely Dan, Ween, the Eagles, The Grateful Dead, Nena, Utada Hikaru, The Rolling Stones, Ian Hunter, and Toto.
Has anyone seen Bob Dylan live in the last few years? Just released his fall tour dates, and I'm thinking about catching him......have just heard some horror stories as far as show quality/sound from ppl who have seen him last few years. Fantastic, as always. S1 N1 was a bit clunky, but I honestly don’t have any complaints otherwise. ER > Mercury and Hood were outstanding. Ghost > Tube from S1 N2 was probably my favorite piece of music from the weekend, but DwD, Wolfman’s, and Piper were all fantastic. Tons of type II on Sunday if that’s your jam. First time seeing any GotF songs live, and I was really into all of them. I thought Drift was a perfect S1 closer. The heat was serious though, and I saw several people who didn’t appear to be your typical spunion receiving varying levels of treatment.
The heat at JazzFest in 2014 was the worst experience I’ve ever had seeing Phish. During the day and people were passing out left and right. I was close to being one of them. The paramedics never stopped
By the way, my crew is renting out another suite for Dicks next year. It was $300 per person last time we did this and it includes the suite(with TVs for football), a GA field pass for each night if you choose to go down there, and VIP parking. If anyone is interested, let me know
This guy is so crazy good at guitar. Same guy that makes the anatomy of a jam videos which are also crazy good.
It’s all good. It’s a 20 person suite, so it takes time to find 20 people to commit. Plenty of time to decide
Yeah it’s crazy. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a little more next year. It’s great having a field pass, too. I went back and forth a good bit. In the suites you have a semi private bathroom and waiters. Inside you have TVs and comfortable places to sit and outside on the patio easily holds 20 people and their seats.
Nice. Carolina Story is actual a friend of a friend of mine and his wife. Saw them once in Fayetteville and met them, cool folks.
They played Brokedown Palace for the first time Wednesday fwiw. https://www.jambase.com/article/greensky-bluegrass-phish-cavern-grateful-dead-brokedown-palace
Really excited for Greensky Bluegrass @ Avondale Thursday (fuck Iron City). Booked flights and hotel for New Year's run at MSG. May try to catch a Disco Biscuits late night show as well. Seven indoor Phish shows in December!
Went ahead and grabbed tickets for David Byrne's American Utopia on Broadway 12/29. Already seen it once but my girlfriend has not and there is a matinee that day.
whenever you see the "---> Makisupa" in those days you know they just absolutely torched whatever the previous jam was
Traded 2x 12/29 floors and 2x 12/30 floors for 2x 12/31 floors + cash. The Ricky Williams trade of phish tix
