was bummed to find out the original location closed. Wife and I used to do their running club every week back when we lived in Hyde Park.
One of my buddies says he wants to either do Tampa or Nashville for his bachelor trip and he'll let the other folks going vote on which one. What cool stuff is there to do in Tampa for such a trip? We are all in our 30s, mostly married, some have kids. I was going to pick Nashville as a matter of course but I want to do some research on Tampa and give it a fair shake.
mons venus and odyssey
Never been to Nashville, but I just assume it's a similar experience to Austin with a centralized bar hopping area and plenty of live music.
But if you did do a bachelor party in Tampa, there are some really good strip clubs, and some fantastic restaurants, and a couple good bar hopping areas.
Options for beaches/beach bars are also plentiful, which I imagine would be appealing/fun for an out of stater.
Plus Amalie Arena and the amphitheater always have events and the Hard Rock has gambling.
You can definitely have a great bachelor party in Tampa, but it would probably require some more planning than somewhere with a centralized endless strip of bars you could wander in and out of like a Nashville, New Orleans, Austin, etc.
Highly recommend WTR & American Social if doing a bachelor party in Tampa.
Anyone watch Selling Tampa? Colony is fire.
what month ? weather can tilt what is a better choice
for example March or April Florida is an amazing place to be with the pool and beach scene to add to other activities. If it is June I would go w Nashville
what are your friends into? There’s a ton of stuff to do in Tampa and recommendations vary by hobbies/likes
In Tampa there are some good golf courses for daytime activities or there is Top Golf. There is also a lot of good breweries if you are into that. Good fishing charters for inshore or offshore. Schedule dinner at Berns one night.
The tampa Bay Area in its entirety has everything you need for a good bachelor party, but it’s hard to put everything together due to distance IMO. Also depends heavily on what time of year. Summer? Too hot and will rain. Don’t go.
It has the strip clubs. Decent gambling at hard rock. SoHo for a decent amount of bars in walking distance. Could go to a lightning game.
Then there’s the st Pete side of things. You can stay at the beach. Rent a boat. Downtown has a good amount of bars in walking distance. Not much night life at the beach. The Trop sucks so hard you wouldn’t want to see a game there unfortunately.
We're talking about either March or April. The wedding is in June.
That's a nice time of the year.
we are talking about going to cigar city brewery. I love there beers. Is that a cool thing to check out?
The brewery is decent size now and they have good beers. Angry Chair is another good one in Tampa. Lawnole23 would know others better than me.
There are a lot of breweries in the area, but Cigar City probably has the largest footprint of the good ones. I haven't been there since they remodeled though.
But it's easy to get to if you're staying in downtown Tampa and it's very close (like 200 yds) to the better strip clubs if that's going to be on the docket.
Where do yall recommend getting a VRBO Airbnb? Is there a certain area that would be best? Sounds like it is kinda spread out in Tampa. I like a lot of the ideas yall have thrown out there in terms of places to go.
Is PCI still a thing? Maybe that for a beach day?
Cigar City is nice since they've renovated
For what I imagine would be part of a standard bachelor party, something in Hyde Park or SoHo would be ideal.
If you're wanting a beach vacation, pretty much anywhere between Clearwater and St Pete Beach
Try and get a house near south Tampa if possible. I can’t imagine too many are in airbnb due to them being mostly families but you never know. If not, stay downtown and it’s an easy Uber to most things we mentioned.
is downtown and Soho/Hyde Park the same thing?
No. Few miles apart geographically, but very different entertainment wise.
pretty close. basically a 5 min drive
They are really close and for what they want it’s a close Uber. These guys are married dudes in their 30s. So/Ho isn’t their scene at that age. If they go to Bern’s it’s 5-7 mins from downtown and 2-3 mins from Hyde Park.
Closest thing to feeling like Nashville is going to be ybor
You can stay there and be a street car ride to lightning game or an easy Uber anywhere in Tampa or even over to the beach
Davis Island or a Harbour Island isn’t a bad Airbnb option if available along w somewhere near Berns on Howard . would not stay in Ybor as the home base
RJF-GUMP if it were me, I'd book a room at the Epicurean or one of the hotels next to the convention center (for access to Riverwalk and Ybor trolley) .
Plan day trips to the beach (postcard Inn, Caddys), brewery hop, or maybe a spring training game. Or maybe a fishing charter or golf outing. And if no one really cares about fishing, I think there are daytime booze cruise charters that take you to waterside bars/restaurants.
at least 1 nice dinner (Berns, Meat Market, whatever Lawnole23 recommends).
at night, bar hop in Soho, Ybor (fuck the haters, it's fun), or maybe see if there's a Lightning game or concert that weekend.
Armature Works is a good jumping off or ending point for the Riverwalk.
Mons Venus and Odyssey 2001 for strip clubs.
Co-sign. Well done Hank Scorpio
If you’re looking to see multiple breweries, look into booking a tour through Brew Bus. They have pre-planned or custom routes depending on what you want to do.
Another good way to hit a ton of bars would be to bar hope along the River Walk. You can start at Armature Works and work your way all the way to Sparkman Wharf on the other end. There’s no open container restrictions on the walk and bars will give you to-go plastic cup.
Ulele is another nice restaurant option.
This is horrible iyam. Back and forth across the bridge constantly
Spend a day at the beach or downtown St Pete
Don't go back and forth
Pretty good blueprint. probably want to adjust it so you only have 1 st Pete day though. otherwise that's a lot of driving.
If you want a nice dinner go to Berns. You can find better steaks but the food is all generally really good and it's a one of a kind atmosphere and the kind of place you always have a really good time (unless you're sitting at the bar and your friend gets hammered and starts yelling at his wife and everyone else at the bar has to try to calm him down and then your friends wife just starts crying and leaves). If you stay at the Epicurean you can just walk over for dinner.
RJF-GUMP if you're going to go to Berns start trying to get a reservation asap.
I wash just about to ask this. Will get on it. I like the sound of staying at Epicurean .
And scrap the jetakis and pirate boat
Lol at taking a bachelor party on Captain Memo’s pirate cruise. Maybe swing by the Glazer Children’s Museum too.
jet skis are fun It's old after an hour though. and probably a good chance multiple people stall out if they don't know what they're doing.
But yeah, the pirate ship is just a glorified day of drinking on the water. It's fine if that's all you want to do, but don't go into it thinking it's anything more. I'd rather post up at PCI
Get a reservation upstairs at desert room as well. Best part of Bern's iyam
Love going to the bar at Bern's and getting the Steak sandwich
Oh and ask for the tour after dinner before dessert room
Not sure if they’re still doing them bc of Covid.
Armature Works is kind of on it’s own but solid happy hour spot , plenty of Uber activity to get back to South Tampa
Meat Market as a back up plan imo.
Ok we have 8-10 ppl. Looking at getting a few rooms at the Epicurean versus a VRBO. Here are the houses that look big enough to accomdate us. Which ones do yall think would be best?
Definitely not the third. I say Ybor, though the first one is very close to the strip clubs.
I may be in the minority, but I wouldn't choose Bern's for a bachelor party. Great restaurant, but not a place I could envision any bachelor parties I've been a part of going to. Would want something a little more lively and loud.
The Ybor one. Walking distance to all the bars in Ybor, which is nice to have built in entertainment. Super short uber (or trolley?) to downtown.
