Hello fellow Floridians. What do y'all know about Hudson or Hernando Beach? Looking at a few places there.
that area is retired NJ-ites and qualified captain ground zero. Used to scallop out of bay port all the time but it’s just absolutely over run now I would highly, highly recommend going north. Homosassa and Crystal River
Thanks! Looking there as well. Trying to find a place to keep the boat on the water and get out of town a couple times a month. Homosassa is ideal but it seems that I can get more bang for the buck a bit further South.
my sister and her husband moved to CR a few years ago for his job. They don’t live on the water, but the Canadians are fleeing. Inventory should start building Both the Homosassa and CR can be zoos anytime it’s over 70 on the weekends, but you can fish by yourself once you get to the gulf and run 20 minutes the homosassa is sketchy as shit outside main channel. CR is, imo, a little more forgiving and you can run out the Salt to the gulf as well. cedar key is an easy boat ride from CR and a fun way to spend a day Both Homosassa and CR have fun stuff on the river as well
I've done a ton of fishing in both those areas. I know enough about Homosassa to realize that I don't know shit. I've saw a flats boat hit a oyster bar running full speed. Don't know how anyone didn't get killed. I've seen a bunch of places in CR listed for sale going through insurance renos due to the storm. Pricing is pretty good but a bit scary to buy one of those.
You know what they say, hurricanes never strike twice! Tbh, I think I'd be scared to buy any property near the coast after last year. Buuuuut if I was looking to live that salt life, I'd probably start in Crystal River and work my way south until I found the best option for me.
been to Doc Bs a few times and liked it. would describe it as a higher quality Chili’s. Boneless Rib was good and they have this bacon slice appetizer that they coat with brown sugar or something and it’s delicious. nice space with an open kitchen.
Fucking helicopter hovering around south Tampa isn’t letting me sleep, I’m a few blocks off Bayshore I presume it has something to do with the Gasparilla marathon? Before I originally passed out saw people outside my window stretching and getting ready to run, as a former cross country runner felt like such a piece of shit after partying all night.
lol Thankfully this could never happen to me cause my wife blasts white noise so loud it's as if I'm standing next to an airplane.
Lol no shit is that the actual flight path? When I lived in Orlando was relatively close to the airport and planes went right overhead, got used to sleeping through that. And spent a year in college in my fraternity house had to sleep through noise to survive, I’m too old for this nonsense now.
Brown noise 4 life!!! come to think of it, the half marathon route really is shaped like a dick and balls
Mrs. Scorpio has become obsessed with the Detroit style pizza at Nona Slice House in Safety Harbor. She sent me to pick up a box last night. I also forgot/didn't realize how good of a happy hour deal they have. 2 NY slices (cheese, pep, meat, or veggie) and a domestic beer for $11, 2 slices & a soda for $9.50. This is what I got last night:
Anyone had streetlight taco and is it worth the hype? I was thinking about getting lunch from there Saturday since I’ll be in the area.
I’ve been there a few times. Really great margaritas and tacos, but it always ends up being more than I’d like to spend for the two.
Nona’s food truck, Sliceadelic, puts out some of the best pizza I’ve had in Tampa. I highly recommend catching them when they are at an area brewery. The Honeycup
My in-laws live in Safety Harbor so we go down there a lot. Love Nonas pizza and their baked wings . Never tried their Detroit style though so think we will next time.
Went to agave social for the first time off Dale Mabry in the carrollwood area. Really good tacos and the flank steak bowl I got was excellent. Couldn’t try the margaritas bc it was lunch for work but heard the drinks there are really good with a lot of specials. Recommend if you haven’t been there.
it’s been added to the rotation of the 4 spots we have in Carrollwood. Margs are good (and cheap). Saw Mariano Rivera there last time we went.
I had the brisket tacos for lunch and they were really good. A little overpriced, a third taco would’ve been ideal, but definitely a spot I’ll come back to.
All due respect (based on your post in the Rays thread) I think we differ on how much the Rays could draw but this is irrelevant. I think the Rays could draw legit attendance with a stadium in Tampa but at the same time no desire for taxpayer dollars to fund a substantial portion. IMO it's always come down to the Bucs getting a 100% taxpayer funded stadium (that's why the Glazers have been willing to fund improvements) and Tampa won't go for that kinda bs again.
said it in the Rays thread that it is not worth Tampa fighting to get them. Raymond James is old by nfl standards, use any public money on a climate controlled stadium and get many more big events.
Game was awesome. My wife has been obsessed with the Bananas for a few years now and was never able to get tickets until she got into their K-club and could buy tickets for any game and this is the first of four we’re going to this year(Tampa, Clemson, DC, Houston). My son had an absolute blast and it went down to the 4th showdown(Overtime) before it ended. Stilts is one of his favorite players lol Was a tad hot before the sun went down but great afterwards Spoiler
I wasn't old enough to be a part of the politics that got Raymond James built, so I have no memory of the public backlash/fallout. But I would 100% vote in favor of funding a climate controlled stadium, or at least adding the overhangs they did in Miami. Bucs games are brutal until late October at the earliest.
what’s there to do on a Sunday around here gonna check out Myakka park in morning see some gators and what not need afternoon/ backup plan Busch Gardens Monday
kinghill assuming you're staying near Bush Gardens, consider the following dinner options: 1. Mr. Dunderbak - German food, good beer options 2. Yuengling Draft House - good food, but only Yuengling derivatives for beer. I think they have liquor though. 3. Hong BBQ & Hot Pot - Korean BBQ 4. Napoli Pizza - pizza 5. Babushka's - small Russian restaurant, log cabin ambiance. 6. Talking Tacos - tacos 7. Skipper's Smokehouse - southern food and live music Also, if you like donuts, make a point to go to Nicola's Donuts in the morning. The type of place that stays open until they run out and they're usually closed by 10:00. They're closed on Mondays though.
Missed out on Sunday Funday, way more college age pricks than usual I'm guessing spring break. kinghill your lack of acceptance for settling any Florida-Miami disagreements in a Publix parking lot is noted bud.
Yeah I was young but still remember the late great Tampa sportscaster Chris Thomas shitting on it and would refer to Ray Jay as the CITS Community Investment Tax Stadium). He was ahead of his time in that sense. I wanna say the Glazers have been willing to pay for some expenses and upgrades because they got it for free and such a sweetheart deal.
With what Jacksonville is doing to their stadium, I think the Glazers need to invest in major upgrades to RayJay if they want to continue to host big events going forward. Even that dump in Orlando is getting upgraded.
OK. Coming down for a beer weekend with a guy who doesn't drink much beer so were looking for a bourbon place to stop as well.
For those with little kids, we went to Chase Sanctuary in Webster over spring break. It was so cool getting to hang out with lemurs and interact with them. Highly recommend making a trip up there. Wife and kids said it was one of the best experiences they’ve had. Never thought I’d get to have a lemur on my shoulders and feed it. My daughter had one purring like a cat when she was petting it.
Isn’t there a bourbon distillery over by Bayboro brewing? Haven’t been over there in a few years found it - it looks like they turned it into a restaurant. No idea what they make there or serve https://www.instagram.com/urbanstillhousestpete?igsh=MXJ3bjd6NHQxbzBhaQ==
