Any of my non South Tampa-brethren have Mission BBQ yet? Had it today and it's pretty average. Better than Sonny's and Selmon's, but not in the same galaxy as Jazzy's or 4Rivers.
Yeah saw him a couple weeks ago, dude was beating the shit outta the heavy bag He's a monster among men in there
My roommate used to go to Golds in St Pete. Said it was packed with wrestlers. I enjoy playing racquetball at my gym in lieu of cardio. Fuck cardio. However, I do miss the chance to eye all the ass on the first floor using the cardio equipment.
Um, guys, what the hell is Drew Park? Found myself over there a couple days ago picking up a towed car, and holy shit. I now know some things I wish I never did.
You're talking about the area by Steinbrenner Field, right? Pretty industrial area from what I remember. Went to a cross fit gym there for a couple months.
Yeah. We also drove past a few "cabarets." Come to find out, these are gay men bathhouses. These guys pay a few bucks a day/week/month to go inside and fuck each other. Never knew this world existed. And now my friend and I are traumatized at the realization of this underground lifestyle. Apparently there used to be a dozen or so strip clubs in the area, but after a bunch of busts it's down to a handful.
Next Friday I close on my house in South Tampa and will also close on the new house in Cheval. I'm near the west gate right off Veterans. Any good local restaurants in the area outside of CCB Brewpub? I'm going to miss South Tampa food.
I'm keeping my TYCC membership so I can still be snobby if need be. The market is absurdly overpriced in South Tampa right now. Made no sense to not sell when we bought in 2010 at the bottom of the market. Want more room and a pool. 2,700 square foot house that is completely upgraded with a pool in Plant district is going to run you around 750k. no thank you.
South Tampa is very over priced. Ideally we would be in South Tampa because my wife grew up there and does miss it but our first house we knew would be a starter house until we started having a family. We wouldnt get a pool like we do now in Carrollwood in anything less than $400-450K in South Tampa. Our son is due in January. My guess is we'll move to house like 2500-2700 somewhere in Lake Carroll in 4-5 years.
I will have spent close to $45k in rent in my 3+ years here. Feel sick, but can't find a place to buy, although I'm not really looking either.
I'm in this predicament now. My office is in South Tampa, and I'd like to stay down here, but with our $400-$450k budget, you just get so much more up north (where my fiancé was born and raised). I just don't know if I can handle my commute time going from 10 minutes a day to a minimum of an hour. I'd be ok in that little sliver just north of Kennedy that's still in the Plant district (no way it won't get better once the Glazer's finish that JCC), but I'm fighting an up hill battle on that one.
It really blows there isnt a nice neighborhood between Kennedy and Busch Blvd. Huge area that you have to drive by to get to another nicer suburb. if it was up to me we would live in Westchase where i grew up but the wife doesnt like it over there. Doesnt like how all the houses look the same and are close to one another. IDGF.
Since my fiancé grew up in North Tampa, and that's where her family lives, I'd like to be in any other location.
I'd advocate moving there if I could afford private school or was stationed in a good school in the district.
I went to Jesuit. never really paid attention to it at the time but no one lived close to the school. If it wasn't South Tampa it was Westchase, Brandon, St. Pete, etc. The whole area around was pretty bad since I think it's Letos area.
Yeah, that's Leto. I was going to go to Jesuit as well(95-99) if I didnt get into the IB Program at Hillsborough.
Just got word that my in laws will be moving there next month permanently. I look forward to seeking your advice for escapes from that shit show when I'm visiting. Cheers Boys.
You mean some of the houses on some of the steets in some of the areas. Keep this shit up and you'll be out of the running for my extra tennessee ticket.
We had friends in Seminole Heights. They had a cute little house. Too bad it was one street over from the ghetto.
I don't know if I should be fraternizing with the person voted as the worst UF poster on TMB. Wouldn't be good for my image.
I realize this isn't in Tampa but can anyone give me some pointers about Lakeland? Will be working in Winter Haven and think Tampa would be too far of a drive, while Lakeland would be a decent middle location. TIA
