I was thinking about that ... but was trying to reference the Tampa real estate market in that post. Potential seems pretty obvious to me. Feels like Charlotte ...
Dali museum is pretty good if you're into art. That was my prime day date spot in high school to prove I was cultured. Bitches love culture.
Besides the beach, you have 2 areas downtown...Beach Drive and Central Ave. I'd probably go to Cassis on Beach. You can also go to rooftop bar at Birchwood. Then switching to Central I would just work my way east to west starting at Mandarin Hide bar. Good food all around. I'm a big fan of brick and mortar. You have a cool underground bar in iberian rooster. more info below:
This post almost makes me wish I still made the 45 min commute to South St. Pete for work. I used to love sneaking off to grab lunch/a drink at some of those places. Never been to Iberian Rooster, but I've got a soft spot for underground bars
Iberian is a great spot. They also buy a shit load of our Midnight Espresso Porter so I love them for that as well.
Seminole Heights folks, I like your hood. Have been up and down Florida and Nebraska Ave all week and enjoyed all of the different breweries and restaurants I've tried. Mermaid Tavern in particular. Menu is really impressive, and a great beer selection. Cheers to y'all, fuck that serial killer non sense
Finally got a chance to go to Armature Works, and was really blown away. Feels like the type of thing people are always saying, “Tampa really needs something like that” about. Wife had pizza from Ava and I had a brisket sandwich and burnt ends from the bbq place. All of it was very good. Stiff Bloody Mary for outside time and a stroll down the Riverwalk was pretty great.
Went a few weeks ago and I agree. With so much being done to revitalize downtown Tampa, I kinda wish we had the extra $/time to throw into an investment property down there.
These fucking pieces of shit deserve to die. Shit is awful beyond words. http://www.tampabay.com/news/public...hing-stroller-on-Bayshore-Boulevard_168504853
While we’re on the subject of pieces of shit... ABANDONED BABY: HCSO NEEDS help to identify an abandoned baby that was found earlier this evening near 18th Street and 143rd Avenue. Anyone with information as to the baby or who the parents are is asked to call 813-247-8200. This information is very preliminary and information is limited. We want to get the information out quickly. If you have any information or tips please call.
Damn that’s awful. I agree way too many people fly down Bayshore. Surprisedmore people don’t get hit.
They need to figure Bayshore out. Running or biking Bayshore is an iconic part of the area. That is a main road though in an area with very few main roads. The crosstown helps take a lot of traffic off of Bayshore but I still think that they need to come up with a better longer term plan. I read that a few speed limit decreases haven’t been able to pass. I’m the last person to typically advocate for that but I think that’s such a pedestrian heavy area that they have to. Also need to find a way to make crossing the street at certain areas more pedestrian friendly
Like War Grundle I've been on Bayshore many times wondering why more people aren't hit by cars. They've added some cross walks but people are coming out from every block to get over the running section. No one is going to run a half mile to get to the next cross walk. I think the only option is to add either add some sort of speed bumps or more traffic lights. However, it's going to make Bayshore a pain in the ass traffic wise. Right now it's a miracle more people aren't killed.
I’ve always wondered if they would try and make Bayshore one lane each way using only the non-water side of the road and then develop the other side for more biking/pedestrian activities but so much would have to be done for that to happen and not create a complete clusterfuck with traffic. Only thing I can think of that could potentially make that a reality is some sort of real Public transportation at some point.
Lol public transportation. That fight has been ongoing for some time. The power players have made sure that no significant money is ever put forward that would make Tampa easy to get around. Instead how about we take an already existing lane on 275 and make it a toll lane!!!!
Speed bumps are the only thing I could think of. There isn’t really an alternative to Bayshore is another big problem.
We pushed for a thirty year half-cent sales tax increase that would have funded a massive, multifaceted overhaul of Hillsborough’s transportation infrastructure, which is desperately needed. The county commissioners blocked it from being placed on the ballot because of reeeeeeeeeeeeee taxes.
I have to imagine they'll continue making public transportation around downtown better with the addition of the new baseball stadium. I-4/275 interchange and Tampa bound Howard Frankland will never not be a disaster though.
It seems good in theory but unless you live close to it or really have a passion for running with views there are better options. Not a lot of good places to park and like some have said it’s tough to cross the street onto the pedestrian area.
Hoping to be a resident in your area in a couple months. Just working on selling the house over here in Viera. We have it narrowed to two apartments while we figure out where to settle down. They're in the Wesley chapel/new Tampa/lutz areas. Fill me in on places to eat and see. Have a 4 and 1 year old so nice parks in the area would help also. Stoked about being closer to a better poker room. Spent time at the hard rock last night. The games over here in Melbourne are struggling.
I live in Lutz currently. Probably moving back to South Tampa next year. There’s not much up here. There is a good Italian spot on Van Dyke near Veterans. That’s about it. If we’re going out to eat we go to Seminole Heights or South Tampa. There are several parks in the area.
Not loving the suburb life? I can’t see myself leaving South tampa but my GF and I don’t really want kids so affording something down here becomes less of an issue.
It’s fine up here. However my MIL just sold our floor plan but not as nice as my house in our neighborhood for $90,000 more than i paid. We aren’t staying in this house for more than another 2-3 years anyways. Might as well sell it. Make my money and pay off the rest of my debt. If it won’t sell for close to what I want we’ll just stay another 2-3 years.
I get it though. South Tampa would be our first choice as we had an apartment on Bayshore when we first got married but wanting a 2500+ sq foot house with a pool in South Tampa would likely be double what we are just about to buy. I say this is our last move but if in 5-7 years we make what you are making on this house I could justify making the move.
Yeah it all depends on wants/needs. For most people with a good job in Tampa you pick space/amenities like a pool and live in suburbia or location with less space/land and live in south tampa. Those with trust funds or very very good jobs get both. I’m not sure how much more this real estate market moves up. As interest rates go up the cost of home ownership will go up on its own. Not saying we are at a high or bubble in our area. I just don’t think the growth of the last 2-4 years will he seen moving forward.
