what does Northeast High measure out to (comparison to Manatee pls)? I know a few schools have programs within their ghetto school.

GreatSchools.org says a marginal difference (4 vs. 5 out of 10), but I think the gap is wider. But maybe I'm biased?

What's your Westchase beef? Too plastic? Too suburbia?

I don't want to argue, but your kids could have a fine public education here if you were so motivated. Your wife's commute would be the killer.

Just by checking google maps for what's in the Kenwood area, unless you're zoned for Jamerson Elementary, plan on going private at least until middle school.

The delegation from Seminole Heights takes offense to your hard pass of our entire county. The delegation finds this comment particularly hurtful coming from the Kenwood contingent.

I had to double the time for each zone with watering my yard. Starting to get large brown spots. Rainy season can't get here fast enough.

My kid is zoned for McKitrick. Supposed to be a good school. I think there is a Math and Science magnet/charter school opening up down the road soon will probably try to get him in there if we don't move back to South Tampa.

I went to a below average elementary school and very below average middle school due to a weird zoning quirk. Aside from the constant violence, fear mongering from students who were affiliated with gangs and the registered threats of committing a drive-by shooting, it was ok.

I don't mind where we are. It's quiet and my kid can play in the street with his buddies without cars flying by nonstop as was the case when we were in South Tampa.

My wife wants to move back to South Tampa but she works in Trinity so I don't know how she thinks that will work. My best guess is we'll buy a place on a lake in the area we currently live. She's warming up to that idea.

I've lived in different parts of FL for three years now, grew up going to the lake in Alabama, but no way in hell do I see any appeal of living on a lake with all the alligators and snakes down here.

If work keeps me here long term we'll start looking for something with a dock and ocean access.

I've had to do the same. Water bill is going to be high plus on top of it I had to add water to the pool and forgot about it so that thing ran for 2 hours on Saturday morning.

I have 4 zones. Each were on for 40 minutes last night. Plus I had to add about 3 inches of water to the pool. My $250 water bill next month will be great.

Talking about PInellas, my place on the beach has gone up 50% in price from when I bought it in Sept 09 to today according to Zillow. Crazy how low it was compared to now. Im right next to Salt Rock Grill in Indian Shores

Anyone in hear live downtown now or previously? They built a new place Aurora right next to Amalie that looks really nice. Unique area for downtown living. It's not skypoint/element but it's not really channelside. Wanted to know if anyone had any yay or nay opinions on that areaz the girlfriend and I walked around all day today and we like it but still trying to gather facts before we pull the trigger.

I also have lightning season tickets so the location is ideal for that. We are late 20s and like to drink. Have lived in soho for awhile and finally over that scene.

I know some folks who live in Skypoint and others on Harbor Island and both really enjoy it. If you're a Bolts season ticket holder, seems like a no brainier.

Quick question for the Tampa folks. The Lions are coming to town next season December 10th and a group of 4-6 guys are kinda tentatively planning on heading down for 4ish days. Where's the best place to stay? We're all 26-30 in age and pretty much like unhealthy amounts of alcohol and sports.

South Tampa's SoHo district is where you'll want to be, but hotels are scarce. Best bet is to stay downtown and Uber to bars, or stay in Westshore (Crowne Plaza is nice for the money and convenient to RayJay and a short Uber from nightlife). Since you'll be here a while, the other option is to stay at the beach, but you likely won't come inland except to go to the game.

I'll probably end up checking out Air BnB too. So is Ybor pretty much a white trash gathering ground?

Not in your best interests, no. You can Airbnb near the South Tampa bars. But the more I think about it, I can't imagine spending 4 days down there. Do the beach and split the cost of an Uber to come to Tampa and go to Berns for dinner.

For daydrinking Ybor is fine just not at night when it fills up with clubgoers. Soho is the place to be Thursday-Sunday nights.

If you can bridge the few years gap with you and University of Tampa students you can bond over how much snow/cold weather sucks.

Check out the Epicurean to stay in South Tampa. Good restaurant and bar at the hotel plus you're right across the street from Berns and walking distance to Haven. South Howard has tons of bars and you are close enough to Uber to really good breweries Cigar City and Angry Chair.

Downtown or Westshore areas are your best bets. I don't know if the Lions will stay there, but a few visiting teams regularly stay at the Grand Hyatt.

Beach hotels (the nice ones anyway) can be pricey, but you can probably find a good Airbnb that's at a nice price. There's also a bunch of smaller independently owned motels by the beaches, but you'd have to really rely on tripadvisor reviews for those.

Yea I would do epicurean or stay at one of the bigger hotels downtown. You can uber to the beach one day but unless you are looking to spend the whole trip on the beach you are better off being in downtown/soho which is a 2 mile or $7 uber from each other and gives you access to a majority of bars for people in the 22-35 age range

Also, I'm of the (correct) opinion that Ybor is worth checking out for either some day drinking or an early dinner. Just head out before 10:00 if you want to avoid the club scene riff raff.

Although day drinking in Ybor ranks below day drinking on Howard.

Is St. John's Pass any good? Lived here for 7 yrs now and still haven't been to that part of the beach.
