I guess. Just seems to me a bunch of dudes from Michigan might favor the beach. But South Tampa was my original recommendation so I get it.
The beach there is pretty good. We stay in Treasure Island every year for a weekend and the sand is nice and it isnt as packed as Clearwater.
John's Pass is largely a tourist trap, but the beach around there is terrific. There's also a great sushi spot named Thai Am 2 right by there.
What do you do at the beach though? By Thursday and Friday places in soho and downtown start filling up around happy hour. Personally I would stay downtown and just uber to soho Friday and then do downtown scene other nights. Also $8-10 uber from mons and all of the good titty bars. Personally I would rather spend less money and hit on girls that will have sex with me if I am single but some people love titty bars and tampa has some fantastic ones
My neighbor said he saw Guy Fieri walking downtown a few days ago. Just found out he was filming at Bayu Ramen (Gyoza to die for). Not sure how it's a "dive" but whatevs. Place is legit, only behind La V for me.
Fuck this thunderstorm. 2-3" on standing water in my garage and couple more and it will be level with my front door.
I'm in Cheval we just got hit. Not bad though. My former south Tampa house is probably under water at this point.
lots of drunk MILF's trying to relive their high school years. Also known as a "target rich environment"
Went to the NKOTB and Backstreet concert in Orlando in 2011 with my wife. Maybe 5-8% were men. Beer and bathroom lines are non-existent.
That storm was crazy. I live in between platt and Cleveland right near the soho bars and I saw 5-10 cars that got swallowed up in giant puddles. Guy in my building drives in $80k BMW that got destroyed. My buddy watched a Honda Civic go for it and go headlights under water and then the car just shut down.
Yep, this almost happened to me one summer when I lived down there. Misjudged the depth and thought I'd be ok if I idled through. Once I saw engine smoke, I threw it in reverese, got out out there as quick as I could, and sat there praying my car wouldn't die.
Some of the streets in South Tampa decline the farther you go down. My in-laws street is that way off Macdill and in between Bayshore. They are in the middle of the street and once in a while have to go for help or have people wait on their porch for water to go down because their car got stuck.
Anyone going to the US soccer game tonight? Just scored a free ticket so gonna check it out. Been out of the country most of this year so haven't post much here. Been to Parks and Rec a few times. Somewhat new bar in DTSP with arcade games. Lowry Parcade is much better imo. All games are 25 cents and the craft beer selection is top notch. Anyone tried any new restaurants or breweries recently? Don't think I've tried anything. Can't wait for Roccos Tacos to open up at international. And apparently American Social will finally be opening up in the near future.
Couldn't be worse than the 180 euros I paid to watch Barcelona in the championship league quarterfinal earlier this year.
Just realized there's a Metro in St Pete. Anyways, Pinkys>>>> Also, if tampa is gonna bring something from Jax, at least make it Maple Street Biscuit Company. Love that place.
There's been rumors of a Maple Street in Oldsmar for a really long time. Can't believe it hasn't happened.
My wife and I were talking about maple street biscuits this past weekend. Great hangover food before a hangover nap.
Relatively new Floridian here, with Irma in the way should I start building inserts to board my windows up? Are these things you guys kind of have on hand, stashed in the garage?
