The Aussie has never been her best Slam, but might be time to give Kvitova some consideration as a dark horse. Knocked off Sabalenka, Su-wei, Kerber and Sasnovich all in straight sets this week. Gets Ash Barty in the final.

She's +2000 in the Aussie outright winner odds at the moment.

never understood why she couldn't translate her game to other slams like she has @Wimbledon. She has the serve, the forehand, and a very consistent backhand

I think she is another one that doesn't "love" tennis and doesn't put in 100% effort in practice/tournaments (besides the horrific knife injury which cant be understated :tebow:). If she does I think she can win more majors, turns 29 in March so she still has 3-4 GOOD years left if she wants it

I am just wondering how Kvitova is going to hold up this year. I am telling you, she had to have lost 15-20 pounds compared to a 3-6 months ago. Not sure if that is going to keep her healthier with less weight to lug around or what the thought process is?

It's bold for sure, but she has been really good this week in Sydney, and played well at Hopman.

I've seen a few of her matches already in 2019. Her serve is really good and I like her forehand. Great attitude as well. Still would be quite the shock lol

Kevin Anderson? Should be your last panel buddy.

    Hate this shit:

And with Melbourne temperatures expected to approach 100 early next week, I wouldn’t be surprised to see several players—especially men, considering the best-of-five format—wave the white flag because of heat exhaustion.

Yeah, gonna be a brutal first week going by the weather we've got this weekend where I am - Melbourne usually gets it a day or two later.

Tasmania to catch some Hobart for a day and then the first 4-5 days of the Aussie is definitely on my bucket list.

    Anyone ever been?

I'm in Adelaide, capital of South Australia. Easiest way to explain where it is - draw a line down the middle of the country and we're basically at the bottom of that line. :8mm:

Mon to Wed here is 39C, 41C, 40C, so that's gonna make life pretty tough in the first couple rounds... :siren:

Definitely worth going, but you probably only need 2-3 days at the Open - they are LOOOOONG frickin days in the sun. And I'd probably recommend Sydney rather than Hobart - better calibre of player to watch at the event and a hell of a lot more to do around town. It's 36 years since I've been down to Hobart but I'd think it's still pretty much a sleepy little town/city.

Oh its primarily to check the Tasmania box, then second to check the stadium box. Good call in the hot days, would not make it multiple days in that especially considering its -6 here right now. I’d fucking melt.

What’s the word on Nadal’s health...I know he’ll want to give it a go but it seems like every French is a must win at this point...an injury-plagued yr might open the door for Novak

His draw is really good, but we’re at the point where we just have to assume he won’t be able to finish a hard court event healthy until he proves otherwise. Going to give it a go as always, but likely will end with a loss pretty early or a withdrawal.

So weird and absolutely random that he won Canada last year. You have to think he has to just get on some Roger plan and manage it. I realize these guys are not mentally hardwired this way but, it's realistic and got RF some more majors.

If Novak is going to make his case for best all time, it's certainly realistic and seems to be absolutely plated for him.

So I just found out that a good friend of mine from the cigar bar. His cousin that lives down the street is Coco Gauff. She’s the 14 year old that won the French Open Juniors and came up runner up at 12 in the US Open juniors.

Shit hit on one of them and your still doubling total that’s put down, at a bare minimum. And kvitova is right there as well, insane odds and I think people would be happier than they were shocked if she pulled it out.

Not quite - the Demon starts at 2.30pm today. I think he's 3rd match on Margaret Court Arena.

But I get your point, still not much of a break. Unfortunately that's the price you pay for going deep, and in this case winning, in the tournie before a slam.
