Zac Taylor should be fired for, aside from being completely unqualified and in over his head, employing Jim Turner as his OL coach. Guy has sucked everywhere he's been That fucking guy coaching the players tasked with protecting the franchise is criminal.
Close to being done with them, I think. Just hilariously incompetent at every single level of the organization, and I'm tired of investing anything in a franchise that clearly isn't interested in putting a winner on the field. Nothing will ever change under Brown family ownership. Like a billion dollars under the cap and you let your top free agent walk for nothing. Worst offensive line in the NFL and low-ball the two best guards on the market, one of whom actually wanted to be a Bengal. All this after watching your franchise QB's knee get destroyed because you put 5 trashcans in front of him. Pathetic
Don't worry guys. Tomorrow they will sign two guards who were like fourth stringers for the Dolphins. PROBLEM SOLVED
So what does everyone want to do in the draft? I know we need an improved pass rush but I want OL and WR to be our first two picks. Load up that offense for Joe. Was previously always leaning towards draft Sewell but there's a lot of good depth in OL this year. Think I'd prefer Chase and OL in round 2 vs Sewell and WR in round 2.
You took the words right out of my mouth. The OL class is deep, can easily get quality guys in the 2nd round and later.
I'm leaning the same. I'd go Chase and then I'd even be fine with OL in both rounds two and three. The only issue with that is they also need an edge rusher. I suppose they could get a future tackle in round 2 and play him at guard for a year until Reiff is gone. Whether that be Leatherwood or whoever. That may allow them to go edge in round three.
Yeah I'd be perfectly fine if we went OL in rounds 2 and 3. The pass rusher is going to be our 3rd DE anyways behind Hendrickson and Hubbard. Draft someone in the 4th round with potential and if it doesn't hit get someone in the 1st or 2nd round next year. If Hendrickson is a bust they structured his contract that they can get out of it after 1 year. So they could sign another big free agent DE if they cut him. If he ends up being good his contract will likely look good in a couple years when the salary cap starts going up again.
I still haven't decided how I'd feel if Pitts ends up being the pick. Obviously it would depend on who they passed on, but it would have to be either Sewell or Chase or possibly both.
Mock draft feedback? Bengals will be picking today. Sewell, Pitts, or Chase? https://www.the-mainboard.com/index...ck-nfl-draft-thread-jets-on-the-clock.181847/
Any other thoughts? I’m good with whichever option. Most of the supposed Cincy experts seem to think it’s down to Chase or Sewell. The latter is off the board now in our mock. I also really like Pitts of course though I’m not sure how seriously the Bengals are considering him.
Looks like Sewell is already gone so Chase seems the easy answer. I like Pitts a lot but he doesn't fill the downfield threat need we have. Just make sure to go OL in round 2.
I decided to go with Chase. Honestly I’m totally good with any of the three primary options. I just know Burrow has been pushing for him and I hate the thought of Auden Tate or a later-round WR playing opposite Tee. Plus I don’t love the WR options that’ll be there in Rd2. Uzomah and Burrow had some chemistry going before his injury, but obviously an achilles is tough to bounce back from.
I think Pitts is the best talent in the draft and simply writing him off as a tight end is really unfair. He's an incredible offensive weapon, and unlike Chase, not one you find every year or two. Then again it would be up to our coaching staff to find ways to maximize his ability and obviously we don't have the brainpower to do that. So Chase it is
Our mock draft selection is up in about eight picks. I don't think it matters a whole lot if it's a guard or tackle since Reiff could move inside. Let me know if anyone has any thoughts. Best OL available: Radunz Dickerson Wyatt Davis Eichenberg Mayfield Cosmi Leatherwood
I'm kind of leaning that way too if he's still there. Has experience playing guard and could eventually slide over to tackle.
Yeah I would love if we got Leatherwood in round 2. Can play him at guard while Reiff is on the team and then bump out to RT when he leaves.
We have our third-round pick coming up at some point today. My plan is to go DT or Edge unless someone amazing is still available. Milton Williams seems like someone the Bengals are especially enamored with.
Mostly just a meaningless preseason game but …. - Really liked Ossai a lot. Wrist injury seems fairly minor so that’s good. - Offensive line was still pretty bad but actually not as bad as I expected. - I like D’Ante Smith…..but not a great sign that he’s currently ahead of Carman at the one guard spot. - Michael Jordan was solid. Billy Price was not. Isaiah Prince was surprisingly good but no clue if he even makes the team. - Chris Evans flashed even though his ypc was not good. Patrick also looked good. - I don’t like Mike Thomas. - Glad we finally have a kicker.
Carman apparently is a lazy fat shithead. Hated the pick at the time and hate it even more now that he's 3rd string.
