Went down a rabbit hole of Bam defending Joker and he actually hasn’t been as bad as I remember or people make it seem. It’s the switches where Joker ends up on the smaller guys that kill the heat but Bam on Joker straight up isn’t that bad. However idk if he can stand up to that pounding for 4-7 straight games though
Hope Bam needs just a change of scenery. He played like complete ass the second half of that Boston series. Thank God for Caleb Martin- hope he can continue that play.
Offensively yes and I really hope that changes in the Finals because we’re going to need him to make Joker work on defense but Bam was really good defensively against Boston.
Obviously, you'd love it if Bam had AD/Embiid/Giannis size but barring that, he's as naturally athletic and defensively smart as you can ask for defend Jokic outside the paint. But just like any great big with an elite post game - of which there are very few anymore - Bam will struggle heavily with that part of the game. The more time Jokic spends down low, the more it becomes very likely Bam fouls out of games, which leaves us absolutely fucked.
Joker is great but not giving Miami who has beaten the top 2 teams in the NBA a chance is wild to me. If this was last years regular season team doing this they'd be the favorite
If Gordon’s going to aggressively put his shoulder down then they gotta take a couple of those to the chest and see if they get the offensive foul called
also Jimmy has to stop drive and kicking other than Bam none of the others are ready to play so he needs to be aggressive and look for his own shot
