eat breakfast at the henry. short rib benedict is the titties. had fun smoking cigars and betting on horses in the afternoon while i was there last month. you have to bet $200 to get one free drink ticket at cosmo. if you walk across the street to paris sports and race book they give you like two drink tickets for each $20 bet on horses. i drank doubles for like 3 hours and didn't have to pay for a single one.
actually saw your post with these details way back in the thread skimming today, definitely going to try and make that happen
Got 6 comped nights....Gonna use 4 in April. Building the bankroll now. It's been like 6 months....Too long imo
Just got back from a 3 day stay at the MGM. It was amazing, even with the rain. Booked most of the trip on points. Ended up about +$300 which was enough to cover all my costs/meals/alcohol as well as my futures bets. How my day went today:
Ok, who all has been to the Sterling Brunch at Bally's? Looks incredible. What is the best route for a 12 person bachelor party? Couple of suites? If so, what is the best option here. Or just book regular rooms?
If looking at suites, probably 2 of the Bella Suites at Venetian or Palazzo. Can fit 6 guys in a room no problem.
i would probably just try to get connecting regular rooms wherever you are going to stay. how much time do you really plan on spending in your room? i haven't done the sterling brunch at ballys, but i have eaten at blt steak at ballys 8-10 times and it's amazing. i'm pretty sure they have the brunch in blt.
If the bella suite is the pretty standard room I've stayed in a few times with the two beds and the step down to the living area, I think 6 guys would be a ton of people for that room. I wouldn't go any more than 4 per room.
The brunch is at the steakhouse, right? I've heard good things. Very upscale...expensive...but worth it by most accounts.
They have two levels of lanes. Concert hall is on main level which is standing room. The 2nd level lanes have a balcony that faces the stage. Went there for dinner as the kitchen is ran by the same people as blue ribbon sushi. Had no idea there was a concert that night, OAR started playing 3/4 through dinner.
There is some variance with luck, but over the long haul the house wins. The big January numbers were due to volume. Good call.
Need opinions. Two buddies combining bachelor party. Probably will be 12-16 guys. Say 5 rooms are being booked together. Me and one other buddy can combine reward cards to essentially get one complimentary room for the weekend. No one else really has any status for either mlife or TR. should all he costs be split evenly or should me and my buddy take the free room since it's our rewards?
Keep it for yourself. Or help pay for the groom if he's paying his own way. Fuck your friends though, you can always find new ones. Take that money to the tables or the titty bars.
I'd say the free rooms are yours but chip in some money so neither of the bachelor's have to pay for their rooms.
You are ok with either choice. Your reward points are not community property, so using them to your benefit should be the expectation. However, if y'all are tight-knit and guys have a history of helping each other out, then sharing would be a good way to go.
In grad school I did a project on MGM and for if I remember correctly they always mentioned occupancies and REVPAR. In Maccao they were going through the crackdown of the high rollers so that was a big deal. But in Vegas they seemed to normalize the gaming take.
Maccao casinos used to be very reliant on high rollers gambling. I forget what exactly what it was but it might have been taxing them. Either way, that area was going to be much less profitable. WYNN and LVS were much more exposed to Maccao, Vegas was a footnote to their stocks at the time (q4 2014 - q1 2015). MGM was about 30-40% revenue from Maccao so it hurt but wasn't the end of the world. As far as normalizing gambling, if you read the commentary on the financial statements or listen to the quarterly conference calls, it's not something they can plan for. The take is going to vary but they forecast based on their ability to get people in the door and staying in rooms. If they fill rooms at good rates the rest will take care of itself.
REVPAR isn't limited to gaming, of course. You probably know more about the dynamics of how it is calculated than I do. Special events (concerts, shows, etc...), night clubs, conventions, food & beverage, and other factors contribute. The gaming share of revenue has been shrinking annually. In the 2.5 years that I have been here MGM has heavily invested in expanding its convention space and special events (T-Mobile Arena, The Park Theater) capacity. The Asian dynamic is interesting. The Asian visitors essentially saved the Strip during the recession. As its impact in Vegas has shrunk the last couple of years due to the crackdown business domestically has more than made up for it. That said, MGM Macau brings in as much revenue as all of the U.S. properties combined
So I called Mlife to give them another players card # to combine with my offer and they said I couldn't do that. Has anyone had an issue doing this before? Is it an Mlife thing? I did no problem with TR.
MLife is way more individual play focused from my experience. It's always been a one-card deal for me. If you play enough to get a host you may get a different answer, though.
one week from heading out, starting to get in the mood. doing the watch party at Planet Hollywood on Thursday, will float around for St. Patrick's Day Friday.
So I'm going for a work convention that isn't until next Wednesday and Thursday, but they need me and my boss to go out there early in case something is messed up. Basically I get a free flight, a rental car, my meals, and 6 nights in a hotel room for free and only really work a day and a half. Also my buddies are going to be there at the same time for a MillerCoors convention so add in some free shitty beer.
