That RV park has nothing but oil field workers in it. All of them either already got laid off or are expected to be laid off this month.
Pretty interesting thread about the Cookeville tornado. Tim Marshall is garbage but I’ll give him a pass on this one.
Bounded weak echo region (just about red rectangle). Updraft has suspended all precip aloft...sign of big hail/good supercell. The second image shows it as a vertical cross section
Can see how the storm motion begins to deviate to the right (toward the east) of the initial motion/mean flow
Went just north of me. They had a spotter showing damage near Chico. Hope nobody got hurt. Looks to be another line out in west Texas.
This thing was on the ground and then miraculously cycled a handful of miles before it went over Abilene. And boy were they lucky because its a goddamn monster right now tracking toward Albany, TX. Good god at that signature.
Lincoln and Omaha looking we’ll be under a tornado watch today, probably after 3 PM. Set up looking juicy for eastern Nebraska and Western Iowa. stay safe out west oldberg in that blizzard, bud.
If it hasn't already been claimed I would like to coin the term Coro-nado. The conquistador can sue me if he wants.
Tornado going through Decatur, AL right now. There is a power plant nearby and there is a ton of industry along the Tennessee River.
Pretty big upgrade. Definitely looks like it has big potential. Storms will be moving like 55 mph, tough to chase.
Tomorrow kind of jumps out. Even 3 days ago it looked potentially big - synoptically evident We have family in the area, so I'll be monitoring all day
Did the day 4-8 ever hint at something on the horizon? I don't remember seeing anything hinting that saturday was a higher end tornado event until Reed mentioned it like tuesday.
They had portions of southern Illinois in a day 4, I believe. I was a bit surprised they didn't seem as bullish on it then. Seemed evident to me, but I think they tend to be a bit conservative with those When I get to work I plan to look again to see what they had
Storm motions of 55-65 knots isn't going to give people much lead time if a storm goes ham. Certainly something to watch and will be following because... what else am I going to do.
