No reported fatalities for the Jonesboro tornado and think I saw only 19 injuries. Pretty insane with some of the destruction we saw and it going through town like that.
Hmm, I was in Eufaula for work right around the time that tornado passed close by, and I had no idea.
SPC day 4-5 Outlook: DISCUSSION... While considerable uncertainties remain, a substantial severe episode appears possible this weekend, from Texas into portions of the lower MS Valley on Saturday, and especially from the lower MS Valley into portions of the Southeast on Sunday.
Just spent the last two days working in my yard. So whatever doesn’t get destroyed by the hail will definitely be lost in the upcoming April freeze on Friday morning.
Yeah we got just enough sun later in the afternoon to get to 70 yesterday. Next week won't be fun - we'll be pretty consistently 10-20 degrees below normal all week. That said, will take this pattern in April compared to what it could have been in January/February.
Just had a tornado warning just to the north of my house. The southern edge of the "warning block" was less than 8 miles from my home, but my County was included. Being stuck in quarantine during a tornado warning with my son = no fun Scared the absolute mother fucking shit out of me
I feel like a broken record, but this one has big potential. Let's hope for everyone's safety it busts, but I'm not so sure.
It sounds like the dynamics are such that wind could be an issue with storms regardless of whether or not they drop tornadoes?
The big swirly looking thing across the SW US is the weather maker for this event. It's been spinning, essentially cut-off from the westerlies for a few days, at least The bright white area across western Canada is the northern stream wave that will drop through the northern plains and eventually phase with the SW circulation.
That’s awesome. Looks like that area of cloud break in south MS and SW AL will be ripe for plenty of heating
Some analogs/comparable events, at least synoptically for this event...a few not so good ones in there (4/27/2011), but also a few null cases as he mentions in another tweet
Love pictures like this and the Layman's terms analysis. Appreciate everyone's posting in this thread.
