My cousin's soon-to-be SIL's grandma had a close call in that storm in woodridge Someone called her to warn her. She moved out of the bedroom and into a safer room without windows. Her house was shifted off frame and the windows were busted... she likely would have been seriously injured if she wasn't warned.
I'm glad everyone's ok. BUT how in the world do you know *anything* about your cousin's soon-to-be sister-in-law's grandmother? I sat here and thought about my own family. "Ok, there's my cousin. And I know her husband. Does he have any siblings? I don't know." And then Wait, wouldn't he have the same grandmother? Not in a case where we're talking about my cousin's husband's brother's wife! But seriously, I'm glad someone called her. Probably was her nephew's step-dad's mother-in-law. Good to have those people in your life.
Ha fair question. I was visiting my cousin in that area and we always talk about storms when they're close to either of us. He sent me the screenshot from a relatives' text message. Was quite the "could've been me" weekend. Someone got stabbed to death in Chicago by a hobo at about 4 pm by the Sears tower in Saturday, which is where I was at 4pm . Then I decided to leave Naperville Sunday morning instead of monday morning and a tornado hit.
oldberg you get anything last night? I don't think we got enough rain to matter. Nothing severe though.
Got a tornado warning in Alexandria and presumably DC. Where are my storm guys? This is where I get my weather.
Wouldn’t be shocking if the enhanced expanded a little west. Already had some storms roll through Lincoln and Omaha.
Had two awesome supercells yesterday. Welcome to the Black Hills Just before the first one hit I-90 and the radar site
...20Z Update... The primary change has been to add an Enhanced Risk across western/central NE and adjacent portions of northern KS. Multiple intense thunderstorm clusters are expected late this afternoon into the evening, within an unstable and favorably sheared environment. Very large hail will be the initial threat, with an increasing threat of wind damage this evening as outflows consolidate and move east-southeastward with time. The Slight and Marginal Risks have also been adjusted slightly southward and westward across the High Plains, based on latest guidance and observational trends. See MCD 1213 for more information regarding the short-term threat in the High Plains.
