It seems like there has been an uptick in massive hail in Texas over the past few years. Is this normal and I am just becoming more in tune to it, cyclical, or just going to become more frequent as climate change produces a lot more unstableness mixed with massive energy convergences?
Lots of instability (proportional to updraft strength/stronger storms) + lots of wind shear for storms to rotate. A bit unusual for the SE in June. Looks more like a central plains setup from early may than SE in June. Be weather aware today and have a reliable method to get warnings
Current tornado watch here expires at 5pm, given what’s going on to our west upstream I think that’s gonna get extended at least a few hours
As of right now. 6 tornado warnings and 9 severe t-storm warning in Texas & Oklahoma. This system is not failing to follow predictions so far.
I find it really fucking weird and annoying when chasers take to Twitter to request aid for tornado damage. It's such a weird look at me, I'm helping plus wow look at this tornado damage flex. Fucking call 911, help as you can, then get the hell out of the way when the professionals arrive.
Guy on The Weather Channel just said the mobile home park in Perryton that took a direct hit is now on fire. So that is not great.
My wife and kids are just east of Pensacola my anxiety is thru the roof edit: not as close as I thought but still nervous let’s drink folks
Buddy and his family took a hit from one of the Pensacola tornadoes early this AM. They are fine but pier is totaled and house is a little beat up. Doesn’t sound like it was too strong when it went over them fortunately
They were getting some gnarly hail yesterday too https://www.instagram.com/reel/CtfjO_etrmO/?igshid=Y2IzZGU1MTFhOQ==
