Very common here in Birmingham in older "nice" homes. We have more of a cellar/half basement that someone poured a slab into at some point.
My co worker's cousin's family lost their house yesterday That's the debris field they focus on. Looks like the house blew up This tornado was an EF2
That’s no shit. More than likely will wash the hillsides and flood the low areas like it’s done here for the last 5+ years
Many of us have spent a lot of time getting to know the Truman Sports Complex parking lot well over the years. Kansas City is grateful that last evening’s tornado also got to know the parking lot rather than any other part of the city. sports.yahoo.com/nfl/breaking...— Mayor Q (@mayorq.bsky.social) 2025-06-05T04:35:17.580Z
Not moving all that fast either, so flooding seems likely. Overall look, evolution, and erratic movement of the circulation gives me El Reno vibes.
Crazy the radar signature we’ve seen last year and this year. Elkhorn EF4, Matador last year, Hyannis, Plevna KS, Greenfield IA, Essex IA, Lincoln NE have all had insane velocity couplets. Feels like bullets dodged for the most part. Anton, CO got hammered by hail. Town looks like a blizzard went through.
Remote Radars are making this possible. The damage rating systems need updated to reflect local mobile radar for wind strengths if they're available but Insurance and Fed Gov won't accept that kind of data right now.
