Getting near the end of the spring now.. Been a really slow may. Guess we got a few weeks in June to go. Looking like maybe a favorable pattern change by next weekend?
Yeah, seems like it. We're still above average in terms of tornado counts thus far. We'll see how it all shakes out. Haven't had many classic days thus far
Got anniversaries for two historic storms today. The Joplin EF5 and the Hallam, NE 2.5 mile wide EF4.
This Friday has some potential in central OK into KS and CO. Decent dryline forecasted. Best large scale lift is north of OK. We shall see
Article from September 2011 about Joplin http://www.esquire.com/news-politics/a32967/joplin-tornado-stories-1011/
I can't seem to get this to embed, but this video scares the mother fuckin holy shit out of me (Joplin tornado)
Well, apparently I figured it out. It's a MUST watch. I feel like I am in the car with them P. S. The Home Depot they briefly spoke about seeking shelter in was completely obliterated with multiple fatalities
Wow, that was intense as hell. Dude screaming into the radio made me nervous as hell even watching it. That was a fucking chase tour I'm guessing?
Idk, but you can literally FEEL the tension rising as the video progresses. The British accents make me suspect the same as you, a tour that almost got fucked absolutely up.
I drove around about a week after it hit and was just speechless at what it left. It looked like the trees had been stripped and I had never seen anything like it. Mother Nature can be a bitch if she wants to.
yeah I went up and toured the WM with the property loss team and the surrounding area and it was the worst shit I've ever seen all down Rangeline Road. I can do without ever seeing something like that again.
I have pics of Moore from when we went over there to help clean up. Two buddies from Dallas came up and we worked our asses off all day and then went to bricktown and partied like rock stars. If I can grab them I will post them. What was cool was the number of people from seriously far away. We met kids from Iowa who heard about it, hopped in a car and drove all night to come volunteer. People lost everything and they were out worried about if we had water or food. But it was funny as it was back woods Oklahoma where the streets were lined with pickup trucks. This one guy shows up with a serious looking chain saw. He is in jeans and a long sleeve button down shirt. The guy looks 65. Asks me where the most dangerous work is. I turn and point at the tree which had split about 10 feet up and we were all wondering who would start working it. He goes over. Sizes it up and goes to work. Next thing I know the guy had it cut up and is setting it up as firewood would be stacked. It had to be 90 degrees out there and he outworked everyone's ass who was out there. Said he was a former logger who came down from up north somewhere. Didn't have a hotel. Just came to get to work and said he would figure it all out that night.
Just wanted to bump these videos. Some good stuff, particularly the radar for anyone interested in learning more about dual pol stuff
More of a threat along and ahead of the line currently moving through GA. Threat has already diminished in AL and eastern GA
US tornadoes forecast for the coming week: http://www.ustornadoes.com/2017/05/23/tornado-threat-forecast-may-23-29-2017/
I worked two weekends of cleanup in Moore. First day out I was doing damage assessment. Walked around with an iPad and had scale it. The amount of times I had to select "total loss" from the drop down was ridiculous. I've got some crazy pictures. Was working near Plaza Towers.
Just got this text from a friend (House was messed up from the hurricane last year) We are now in a tornado warning for Skidaway Island and in our shelter room. It is booming here.
If they're in Skidaway Island, the circulation is to their south and should stay so as it moves offshore
I think that storm yesterday that passed through al, ga, and fl is off the coast of nc right now... and it propagated a localized swell of prolong 7 foot peaking at 8. I'll be driving tomorrow 'storm chasing' the wake of the storm to surf. Love a reason to post in this thread.
Tornado watch for Florida until 3pm eastern. Next outlook will upgrade FL to enhanced for wind and tornado potential
gettin annihilated. update tmrw but the best update will come next thursday since it goes tuesday am-tuesday a.m james spann is a SAINT, and thankfully the WPC underrated this system
I'm willing to bet we are well above our average. I don't think we've had a week in the last couple months that we haven't had at least one torrential downpour.
