We always want to get better thus our commentary. I think the duck boats themselves are dangerous. If you ran a business in this part of the country where you didn't operate when there was a weather warning you would go out of business immediately. I think we're under a storm watch 50% of the time. Make the vessels relatively safe. People should not die in a lake in July w life jackets.
I assume it's a private company, therefore the onus is on them to know what is going on weather wise. No excuses. If they try to blame anyone else, they're trying (and failing) to abdicate responsibility. It's one thing for tourists to have no idea what's happening while they're out on their own, but they put their trust in a company that pledged to take them on the water safely. It's a fucking awful tragedy.
Under a watch 50% of the time? Numerous places shut down activities until storms pass. This complex caused about 9 counties to be warned as they passed KC heading south. There was ample time to know strong storms with history of 60mph wind where coming and they could have had a good idea what time they were gonna arive and made sure there vessels weren’t in the water until things were clear and calmed down. Saying they would go out of business is just not true.
The duck boat thing is my worst nightmare. Ppl die when I have a warning out....oof fuck not a good feeling. Let's not talk about the feeling of ppl dying without a warning...
If it was a tornado warning it may have changed things. Tstorm obviously didn’t. Shit, I follow the weather fairly regularly and a thunderstorm watch doesn’t get my attention like a tornado watch does. It doesn’t convey the same severity even though the storms could have more widespread damage
That Ryan maue guy has been popping up in my twitter feed. I quit following him when he was going all in on the whole climate change skeptic thing. Reading the comments to his posts he certainly appeals to a very distinct demographic
This storm had a brief tornado warning a few miles South and East of here. Also tennis ball sized hail.
Friends of mine had their three kids with them at the zoo that day. Made it to the car right when the hail started. All windows got blown out while they were trying to shelter the kids.
Lots of small cells popping up here. Pretty neat little shot here seeing all the small outflow boundaries from each cell
Some nice cells popping up here that are making me feel like the people that tweet at Spann about storm coverage during Dancing With the Stars; this is really hurting my golf coverage
Ok now my complaint is valid...only a severe storm warning now in the area and the news is still on instead of the programming. They've spent the last several minutes showing viewer photos of *possible* funnel clouds
Only some funnel clouds before another storm got absorbed in clarksville ar. Parents said it was an awesome light show, some minimal winds but shit tons of rain, luckily they missed the hail core.
