Official Tornado and Runaway Barge Thread

I hope this thing just absolutely fucks Oklahoma City and Tulsa up with hail. Lets not have any fatalities today guys.

 

Starting to see some cells popping up.

 

Some action popping up in E and NE OK. Heavy rain and winds up to the north for me

 

Reports on that are of a "large and dangerous" tornado

 

Pretty crazy little tidbit from watching the storms tonight:

Tonight are the Oklahoma High School State Championship games and one of them is just northeast of Tulsa. Watching the radar I was surprised they were still playing. Met on the news updates and says they're now issuing a tornado warning for that area then the tv cuts over and shows the game is still going on and he was at a loss for words. He finally just said "wow, apparently they're still on the field" and then they finally suspended it.

There were a couple local chasers on that and sounds like it could've been pretty nasty. Was also moving pretty slow, they kept saying in the 30-40 mph range earlier but that seems to have picked up slightly

 

I'm not at work and don't have the fancy radar at home yet, but you can kinda infer damage based upon height at which the debris is lofted plus the rotational velocity of the circulation

 

Well, with a lot of caveats and in a probabilistic sense

 

Debris looks to be at least up to 13k feet based upon limited vertical slices available in radarscope

 

Right now, rotational velocity is ~60 knots + debris to at least 13k feet would estimate ef2-3.

Again, lots of caveats

 

Futureman going to be pissed when this thing gets an EF0 tomorrow

Still a really nice radar signature on that thing too. Been on the ground for a while now, ~45 minutes since that first screenshot

 

Debris signature is waning a bit, as is the rotation aloft. Still very strong at the low-levels and is very dangerous.

If the mid-level rotation continues to peter out, it won't be long before it's over. At least, unless it cycles

Part of me says that’s a monster, the other part thinks it was likely a much thinner tornado and that’s just a lowering seen from far away.

Saw another angle where it went through town as a 1/4 mile wide cone
