So, that's where the nuke comments are coming from. And now we're airing it in the media to remind Vlady that we hear everything and there's no way out by violence.

IMO I think UKR pilots/crew have been training on F16 for some time now, just hasn't been announced. I think the US wants UKR to prove they'll maintain, etc. before they issue things wholesale.

Are we not allowed to call out Zelensky for calling for preemptive nuclear strikes on Russia? Am I a Russian troll for saying that's fucking insane and dangerous?

Well he did not call for “preemptive nuclear strikes on Russia”. He called for “preemptive, preventative strikes” seemingly to cripple Russia’s ability to use nukes and that’s only if you don’t believe his walk back that strikes meant sanctions. Which I think is a reasonable thing to not believe.

However, here’s a leader of a country who’s, watched his people be bombed and murdered and his cities turned to rubble and is now being threatened with being attacked by a nuclear weapon. I think it’s likely he got a little reckless with his comments. The only person in this that is “fucking insane” though is Putin. So does it make you a troll to call Zelensky dangerous and insane for calling for lesser strikes than Putin is threatening? I don’t know, but it does seem like you’re leaning into Russian spin and propaganda.

Also Zelenskyy doesn’t possess nuclear weapons or have any say in their use. Putin does. So I’m not sure how we’re rationalizing equivocating Zelenskyy’s rhetoric to Putin’s.

“Speaking in an online video on Thursday, Zelensky said: 'What should NATO do? Make it impossible for Russia to use nuclear weapons.'

He added: 'What is important, I once again appeal to the international community, as I did before February 24: We need pre-emptive strikes so that (the Russians) know what will happen to them if they use them (nuclear weapons), and not the other way around.

'Don't wait for Russia's nuclear strikes and then say: ''Oh, since you did this, take that from us!'''

The Kremlin on Thursday denounced the comments, which they interpreted as a call for an all-out nuclear war. “

absolutely shocked Artoo interpreted in the same way as his icon Putin

Well that’s one way to twist someone’s comments from “we should use whatever peaceful means necessary to stop Russia” to “we should murder hundreds of thousands of Russians indiscriminately”

In Truman’s eyes, it was dropping 2 atomic bombs to bring Japan to its knees and ostensibly avoid massive casualties with a land-based invasion.

In Zelensky’s world, he has to balance secretly hoping that NATO is pulled into the conflict with limited strikes to get the Russians to back off (ideally before they drop a tactical nuke) with continued NATO and American ongoing support that doesn’t want direct involvement.

you can think he made insane comments that would have caused a nuclear exchange if carried out (which would be just gluing cause/effect together as the russians tried to rhetorically style it) without getting scolded by the red baiters

No serious answer I guess, because the original poster isn’t deserving of one. I get that his ideology generally aligns with yours so you feel the need to back your boy, but it’s just not worth the effort with something so obviously transparent and with someone who routinely cites sources that should make you cringe.

It’s a disingenuous question. It assumes an attacking country deserves full peace on their own soil. Its citizens do, yes. Its military does not. In the context of a missile strike, a peaceful preventative strike is a strike on threatening military assets with little to no loss of human life. If your personal intent is to bring attention that his walk back to “I meant sanctions” is kind of farcical, I agree with you. But it’s an uncharacteristic misstep by a man whose enemies are looking to pounce on any misplaced word. He had to walk it back, because millions of people are now being told that he’s a monster for wanting to prevent his country from being annihilated. The kremlin needed an opening to curb their citizens increasing unrest and disdain for the war and Z gave it to them. Not smart. I mean look how willingly outsiders like yourself and artoo pounced on it. Russians who have been force fed Kremlin propaganda their entire lives stand little chance of seeing through it.

Naive would be assuming that the broader industry of war, in any way on any day, runs or does anything for free.

    https://www.csis.org/analysis/what-does-40-billion-aid-ukraine-buy

$13B of the $19B in military aid is either money lent to Ukraine to buy weapons from the US or allocated directly to US mil to buy new weapons for the US to replace the stockpile (which has been depleted by only $3B)

Ain’t shit for free in war.

re the preemptive stuff -- if Russia uses nukes, NATO is almost certainly to get drawn into this. There is no template for what happens moving forward once nuclear weapons start going off on the European continent.
