I think this is a really important topic and totally agree. Xi needs to realize that while RU have overwhelming forces, the entire world has come together to denounce this. I am curious the long term impact of these global sanctions and if Xi is watching that as well. Any moves China makes on Taiwan would be received similarly by the global community as with Ukraine.
That's Kadyrov without the hat on. For the two people on the board who don't keep up with Chechen politics.
The chilling and sad reality of the math is if Ukraine has to be wiped off the face of the planet as a cost for the rest of the world not to be nuked, that's a price every other country in the world would have to be willing to pay. Now what comes in the aftermath is a different thing, Russia has already painted themselves in a corner of which there is no way they come out of this a "winner" even if they take Ukraine. But removing Putin, or any dictator at the helm of a nuclear power, has to come from within, that's just how the world works now ever since the atomic bomb became a thing. One thing is clear though, Putin's days are numbered even if they take Ukraine. With Russia cut off from the rest of the world, there's only bullshit you can feed your own people before they get pushed to the brink and remove you by force.
My neighbor’s son was on leave in early February and had to return early to go to Ukraine. He’s in the army.
Is this actually confirmed anywhere? Is it possibly a misunderstanding that the deployment is to a NATO country on behalf of the Ukraine invasion instead of deployed to Ukraine. This would be a huge deal and I would think it would be everywhere if true.
If they're getting deployed it's to wherever that NATO announcement of their force activation is. We aren't sending people into Ukraine
I'm guessing they are in Poland or Germany. Russia would make it widely known if there were American Troops on Ukraine soil
Fucking soldiers are the same everywhere man. That’s the first thing you do on ANY assignment that sends you somewhere new
No, I have not called him to see how his time in Europe is going. I have no idea where he is now but he was going directly there as of that date.
Wow. Putin informing Kadyrov weeks ahead of his own generals does give some credibility that this is a personal glory war for him. Also, gives hope that the mismanagement of the Russian strategy will result in failure despite its military advantages.
Humorous to see a few posters on here claiming to have friends deploying into Ukraine. Can’t imagine how much this is happening on Facebook.
I have a friend in the Ukrainian army who just posted on MySpace that he was being deployed to Chicago. No idea if it’s true but it would be pretty interesting.
We listen to gunfire, artillery, and missiles daily. Locally it's called the sounds of freedom. It intensified over the last month but now it's been basically silent for several days. It only goes quiet when the troops are somewhere else. Clearer?
A friend of mines brother in law is in the army and has been in Estonia for a few weeks. She told me on Friday that he's had a letter giving 48 hours notice that they're going in to Ukraine. I had the same reaction as most of you here. I'll try and get a copy of the letter shortly..
Got it. All her family was sending him their well wishes, obviously noone actually read past the first paragraph: Spoiler
