Re: USA - BRAZIL I'm interested to see who we call up for the game. Is it going to be the WC squad, or are we going to start taking a look at the younger kids?
Re: USA - BRAZIL I think a mixture of both, guys that are trying to earn a spot with their club team abroad should stay with their club, which is what Ricardo Clark is doing. I would definitely like to see Omar Gonzalez and Mix Diskerud called in, and Sean Franklin and/or Kevin Alston.
Re: USA - BRAZIL Damn the way i read it was that he was trying to get out of his contract with Fluminese to make it happen
Re: USA - BRAZIL Brazil's squad for the friendly GOALKEEPERS (3): Jeferson (Botafogo), Renan (Avaí), Victor (Gremio), DEFENDERS (8): André Santos (Fenerbahçe), Daniel Alves (Barcelona), David Luís (Benfica), Henrique (Racing Santander), Marcelo (Real Madrid), Rafael (Manchester Utd.), Rever (Atlético Mineiro), Thiago Silva (AC Milan) MIDFIELDERS (8): Carlos Eduardo (Hoffenheim), Ederson (Lyon), Hernanes (São Paulo), Jucilei (Corinthians), Lucas (Liverpool), Paulo Henrique Ganso (Santos), Ramires (Benfica), Sandro (Internacional) FORWARDS (5): Alexandre Pato (AC Milan), André (Santos), Diego Tardelli (Atlético Mineiro), Neymar (Santos), Robinho (Santos)
Re: USA - BRAZIL I was actually expecting an even more domestic roster from Brazil, and most of their domestic based players are their young phenoms like Ganso, Neymar, and Sandro (who's joining Tottenham), and this will be the start of Brazil's transition leading up to Copa America. The fact that Thiago Silva and David Luiz are their next in line CB's is crazy.
Re: USA - BRAZIL Same here. And that squad is not underwhelming at all. Andre Santos, Alves, Luiz and Silva is a solid backline. Neymar and Ganso on the squad is scary for the future.
Re: USA - BRAZIL USA roster should be released today, not sure who will be called in, with the game less than a week away its kinda tough not expecting too much from this
Re: USA - BRAZIL I get the feeling most of the A guys will be left off and a lot of MLS guys will be brought in. I can also see Guzan getting called in to start, since he is backing up Freidl at the moment.
Re: USA - BRAZIL "U.S. Soccer president Sunil Gulati tells me the U.S.-Brazil game on Tuesday won't be the only national-team game in the remainder of 2010. "Beyond the Brazil game I could imagine us playing two or three more games this fall," Gulati says. The FIFA website lists a friendly between the U.S. and Poland on October 9 in the New York City area." -Si.com
Re: USA - BRAZIL If anyone has an extra ticket, let me know. I plan on going but can't find anyone to go with and finding a single has been a bitch. I guess I could go through Ticketmaster but we'll see.
Re: USA - BRAZIL GOALKEEPERS (2): Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tim Howard (Everton) DEFENDERS (6): Carlos Bocanegra (Saint-Étienne), Jonathan Bornstein (Chivas USA), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover), Clarence Goodson (IK Start), Chad Marshall (Columbus Crew), Jonathan Spector (West Ham United) MIDFIELDERS (7): Alejandro Bedoya (Örebro), Michael Bradley (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy), Maurice Edu (Rangers), Benny Feilhaber (Aarhus), Jermaine Jones (Schalke), Sacha Kljestan (Anderlecht) FORWARDS (3): Edson Buddle (Los Angeles Galaxy), Robbie Findley (Real Salt Lake), Herculez Gomez (Pachuca)
Re: USA - BRAZIL Like the list and God damnit for Findley still being called into the squad. I would have liked to see Mix Diskerud (sp?) called in as well. and for Jones being called in.
Re: USA - BRAZIL Guzan/Howard Cherundolo - Goodson - Boca - Bornstein Bedoya - Bradley - Edu - Landon Buddle - Gomez Obviously everyone will likely see time. I can see Jones coming in at Half or like the 60 minute mark as he's still not fully 100% Good that Jozy stayed in Europe, Dempsey probably refused the invite, and Torres missed his last game with Pachuca due to injury. Would've liked to have seen one of the three young CB's (Gonzalez, Opara, or Ream) but not pissed. I think we'll see quite a few newer guys in the Poland friendly.
Re: USA - BRAZIL I'd like to see Fellhaber get some good time. Also wish they'd start Marshall because he is a bad ass. Hopefully Buddle/Gomez starts. I have no desire to see Robbie Findley on the pitch ever again.
Re: USA - BRAZIL FUCK no Jermaine Jones for Brazil anymore "Jones initially accepted the invite, but after further discussions will remain with FC Schalke to prepare for his first competitive matches in more than a year after recovering from a shin injury." http://www.ussoccer.com/News/Mens-National-Team/2010/08/Jozy-for-Jones.aspx
Re: USA - BRAZIL Keep hearing Magath is less than thrilled Jones is playing for the USA. Usual tugging match between club and country - and Jones is fighting for a roster spot so he has no leverage right now.
Re: USA - BRAZIL Jozy Altidore will be replacing Jermaine Jones and Omar Gonzalez will be replacing Chad Marshall
Re: USA - BRAZIL Looking forward to the match, but it does suck Jones isn't playing. Saw a sick video of him on youtube and was anticipating seeing what he could do.
