I'm going to give it April before I come to any conclusions about a number of the things being discussed. I'm not a Donaldson hater because even through the terrible hitting he's robbing motherfuckers with his glove at 3rd. If Boone says he's seeing something out of him that makes him think this year will turn it around? I'll take that endorsement. I have been known to be very anti-Hicks. Love that he's a switch hitter that can work a walk but his hitting has been beyond abysmal and he's never healthy. That said, he hit in the 290's this Spring and stands to benefit greatly from the shift ban. His D looked like ass though. I'm a big Gleyber fan and hope they can figure out a way to keep him around but he makes the most sense as the prize in any deals the Yankees make this season. If he has a bad first half it'll be easier to deal with but his streakiness just tells me he'll look good enough for me to fret over dealing him. I love his aggressive base running even though it burns him sometimes. With the pitch clock in place it only makes me think he'll take even better advantage of it. If they deal him it had better be for something "can't miss", not a middle reliever with a history of IL stints. As far as this Franchy character goes, he just looks like more of the same big bat philosophy that the Yankees love and I'm over already a long time ago. This guy seems to either launch the ball into the stratosphere or K (35% of the fucking time). I guess for a million bucks he's a cheap MLB proven depth piece. Still rather see a kid get a shot. My breakout (or maybe a re-breakout) pick is Domingo German. I think he uses that fifth starter spot to relaunch his assault on the AL.
Poor choice of words there lol. Fully agreed on Gleyber. I think he's kinda underrated at this point among Yankees fans. I get being a bit bummed that he never really hit his ceiling, but start naming the clearly better 2B in baseball. The list isn't very long.
Boggles my mind that a guy like him who clearly takes care of his body and looks like he is chiseled out of marble is just constantly having nagging injuries like that.
Anyone watch the Yogi Berra documentary that just came out? It’s so good. I can’t believe how much I forgot about him. I definitely had some dust in my eyes.
I think it is Amazon, but I just download it so I could be wrong. It was in theaters last month. It's called "It Ain't Over" It really is so good.
Lineup is big trash. idk who is to blame, Cashman, Boone, hitting coach, analytics, but it ain't working. I mean look at our regular lineup right now. Judge and the bullpen really masked this team early. When we're arguing that Jake Bauers and Billy McKinney should be getting more run, it's bad. And that Stanton contract is looking worse and worse every year.
And people said we robbed the Marlins and that it was a favor from Jeter smh. 2018 and 2021 are the only years I'd say were really good and worth that money.
Yeah, the guys body is just glass at this point. It's kind of amazing since his body looks like a Greek God, so he clearly puts in the work to be in shape. I'll never understand how guys like Bartolo Colon just play forever and never get hurt and guys like Stanton just fall apart for the fun of it.
On paper the team should've been solid. Almost every player has underperformed. Idk who that's on. Playere? Coaching? Both? That's not a defense of Cashman, I'm fine with him being replaced at this point. Just saying I don't think he's the biggest issue.
