ok, realistically lets talk about the united state's chances of making WC 2010

    right now we are on top of the standings but the race is pretty close

    mexico has two gimme games to close the qualifiers so lets assume that they get one of the three spots

    so the last two have to go to us, honduras, or costa rica

    i just hope that costa rica's freefall continues and that we beat them soundly in DC

    I am not worried to be completely honest. We have a home game as one of our final two, and any home game for us I feel we win.

    anyways the chances are extremely good as long as we stay healthy. we have Castillo coming to the team along with Jermaine Jones so we will have to wait and see how these guys play with our current players now. also maurice edu could be back from injury in time for our last WC qualifier

    to be honest, the chances are really really good right now, a result in Honduras and we are in, and even if that doesnt happen we have a home game against a struggling Costa Rica side that just fired their manager, so it would take an incredible collapse not to make it

    Fuck that. We only need 1 point out of 6 to qualify. Plus the teams below Chile will play each other and eliminate themselves.

    Born and raised in Chile. Lived there the majority of my life (14 years) so yes I would root for them even though I am a US Citizen as of last wednesday.

    I would have a bigger celebration than if/when Chile qualifies is this happened. It would be even better if they go and play the 4th place team from CONCACAF and lose.

    They are 5th right now with 22 points (5th place plays concacaf, 4 qualify directly). There are 2 games left. They play Peru at home (should win Peru is last) and Uruguay away. Uruguay is also fighting to qualify just one point behind Argentina now.
