Remember we get another world's next year. Knighton probably going to be a different animal with 1 more year of maturing and growth. Already salivating thinking about that final. Also, don't forget Kenny! Dude ran a great race and secured that silver.
I'd argue that it's "disappointing" that Knighton ONLY got a Bronze going against the fastest American ever and the Olympic Silver medalist is probably a good sign for his career.
Man Lyles/Knighton/Fahnbulleh for the next couple Olympics will be great. Plus Kenny B just racking up silvers.
So now athletes can't have a bad game/race/whatever? They literally just were talking about how disappointing Lyles was in the Olympics and then what just happened? Knighton just got 3rd as a 19 yo. He just graduated high school. Think about that.
It’s fine to say Knighton had a disappointing race, he was never really in it. He set the bar so high with that 19.49 and it’s a long season for a 17, now 18 year old. Same with Steiner, they’ll both be all time US greats when it’s all said and done but this just wasn’t their time. Give ‘em some seasoning and rest and next year at worlds could be a whole other story.
Need these boys and girls to get them batons around the track this weekend so I can really lose my shit. Idk why we struggling with relays so much lol
It’s perfectly fine, don’t know why everyone is up in arms about saying that was a shit performance when it was .3 above his best
To be clear, I wasn't talking about you or anyone saying he had a bad race. I said the same. For him it wasn't what he expected I'm sure. I was responding to the comment below, in particular the last portion of it. A 19 yo is gonna have a C- race but it doesn't mean shit in the grand scheme of things. Hell, it'll probably add fuel to the fire and make him work harder.
Michael Andrew is the greatest child prodigy of swimming and gets the treatment big time. Him being an anti-vaxxer though makes it fun
Michael Andrews parents were apartheid apologists who poisoned their kid with home-schooling. Yea he isn't going to get as much slack as an extremely likeable, teenage, Knighton deserves.
Tonight should be super fun, and I’d have to think there’s a high probably we see Sydney break her own world record for a 2nd time. Getting under 51 would steal the show of the whole event imo. To put that in perspective, six of the 8 women in the 400m flat final haven’t broken 50 this season. You have the 4x1 heats which are always sketchy, womens 800 semis and both 400m finals. Let’s go!
It's incredible to see the difference between basically everyone else post-race and Mu. Pretty much everyone is gasping for air to some degree, and you could hear it in the voices of Rogers and Wilson during their interview after the race. And then there is Mu, who you can barely tell just got did any sort of running at all, let alone running a world-class 800m.
We don't have a 400m finalist? Kinda weird 400m final is right after the 800, are there not people who do both?
Our 3, maybe 4 best 400m runners do not run the event. Sydney, Dalilah and Athing. With the 800m final on the same day as the 4x400 we could actually not be a massive lock to win it. 200/400 double is more common as is a 800/1500.
syd was -1200 on draftkings before the race so i just made a cool $0.83 she's a sure-fire lock every time she races
