Sounding like Lloyd Kelly on a free is going to be the first signing of the summer. He turned down a new Bournemouth deal
I think this would be a nice move if it worked out. He’s able to find palace’s cheap owners a lot of good players
Eze was looking like ASM against our tired back line. Poor performance, but Palace are playing well right now.
Big Joe back in training with a shot at playing this weekend. Also lots of chatter Newcastle is closing in on Tosin Adarabioyo on a free. Would love that.
Looks like it's Freedman or Johannes Spors. Spors is currently part of the 777 Group , but has worked with a bunch of clubs around Europe. Freedman is currently the Palace DoF. Personally, Freedman seems like the obvious pick. But with ownership apparently interested in the multi-club model, seems like Spors would have advantage on that side.
Amazing and interesting season. I'll remember the Champions League campaign(home PSG match) forever, despite not advancing. I never thought Newcastle would get into the CL. IMO, finishing 7th is pretty incredible when you consider the Tonali ban + the amount of days missed by the squad via injury. I think I'm on board with making UECL, despite it being a meh competition. Sounds like Lloyd Kelly is done, and hoping the Tosin rumors are confirmed sooner than later as well.
Sounds like Dan accidentally bcc’d his Newcastle email to a email he sent to INEOS accepting the position. One small problem, we hadn’t been approached yet. I’ve been there. I once had a competing business accidentally email me their entire contact list.
All eyes on Bruno. If someone pays the release clause it would be a big hit to our midfield, but that is a lot of money. It would allow us to push hard the next few transfer windows, but I do not want to lose him.
100 during the month of June only. There's been some unconfirmed chatter that he's committed to one more season, and even if RC was triggered he wouldn't go
Seems like these are the bigger names batted around as potential departures: Wilson (Expires in 2025) Almiron ('26) Longstaff ('25) Bruno ('28) Trippier ('25) Obviously there could be other moves from lower in the depth chart, but those are the high-end options that seem to be floating around. On first blush: Wilson and Almiron can head on out for younger replacements Given the lack of Euro football and the CM depth, I think moving Longstaff might make sense. That still leaves Bruno, Tonali, Joelinton, Miley, Willock, Anderson. Would hurt to see Trippier go, but it may be the right time to make the change for both parties. Livramento gets to go full-time, Tripper can move to somewhere with European football on the line while he still has his legs, etc. Would really love to see Bruno for at least one more year to help secure a top-6 finish, but if he did move it would open a wave of cash that would be hard to argue with. If 4/5 departed, is that too much change in one transfer window?
If 4/5 departed in your scenario, we would probably see incoming signings spend in the neighborhood of 60-100 million. I think this goes to 100-150+ if that includes Bruno. Outside of Bruno and Longstaff, the other players are starting to fall off so "hitting" on transfers to replace them shouldn't be that hard. If we have to replace Bruno +3 others, than there would be a more risk with our incoming transfers, but I still do not think it is too much change. I do want to keep Bruno for 1 more season, but it would be fun to spend that money.
According to the twitters, Bruno's release clause has now expired. Not too surprising, imagine he will be sold next summer
The chatter around then deals meet PSR hurdles seem to be: Minteh to Brighton for around £33mil Elliot Anderson to Forest for around £35mil Also sounds like Wilson is generating plenty of interest and an additional outgoing. One would think those moves, plus Dubravka/Almiron, would free up a decent chunk of cash to play with this window.
Also, ESPN is reporting the club is close to an agreement with United for Ashworth. Timing feels like United was hoping for a reluctant acceptance of a cheap offer due to PSR. Now that the club has satisfied PSR rules, they will have to pay
