"Dva get that soldier he's way out of position jesus christ" as their soldier stands behind rein and dva with a harmony orb on him.
I always laugh when people think they're playing well because they have gold medals. Not my fault we're losing guys. I have gold elims and damage playing dps role, durhhhh.
had a soldier earlier giving me shit because he's "looking for discord and can't find it" probably because there's a tracer up my ass and a pharah in the skies so i'm always dead. biggest problem with this game is people not doing their job, whether they're trying to carry to show how great they are or because they simply don't know doesn't matter, they're all just awful
Most important thing about this game is awareness and decision making, things that improve the more you play. I've been waiting until all of my teammates pick, and then taking what's left in order to force myself to be flexible.. Also, how terrible of a pick is Widow? I've been playing her in quick play on offense, and I consistently have been getting 2-3 picks right out of the gate (probably due to the "surprise" factor). I feel like in a comp game, that would lead to a good push, but I'm afraid of the backlash.
If you are good its a good pick in some situations. Just be ready to switch as soon as you stop being effective.
Thing about widow is she is vastly less useful on console than pc and pc players really hate seeing her. Personally, I dont really mind seeing her in certain situations, mostly on attack. never on koth tho. Her value is 95% getting picks on healers BEFORE the team fight. If you're not doing that you need to switch to someone with more reliable dps.
I play on xb1, and that's what I try and do. Pick a healer/DPS before the fight starts. Works surprisingly well almost every game.
I played against a top 500 widow yesterday on console and he was doing incredibly well until we started yelling at our dva to dive her.
picking widow or hanzo you're just asking to be yelled at and blamed for literally everything no matter what enjoying arcade mode, 1v1 shit is wild. forcing me to learn characters I never play too. had a crazy comeback after going 0-3 to start a match.
if a guy has 100 more hours on Hanzo than anyone else and has reached diamond playing him then you do you booboo
go to quickplay if you want to play trash heroes. If you pick out of the meta in comp you are doing a deliberate disservice to everyone on your team
i fucking love this excuse "but we arent pros" pros know better than you. they know which heroes are good and which arent. You are handicapping your team if you pick mccree or bastion because their roles are done a hundred times better by other heroes. If you dont pick the overpowered heroes, you are at a competitive disvantage and you should always pick broken heroes if you want to raise mmr.
I'm pretty much always going to pick zen or lucio over ana because my aim is awful and i'm useless with her. Same with any tank over rein. I'm awful with him. And pharah and mei are the only dps i can play because the others require aim i'm not capable of. Considering all of that I will continue to play heroes outside of the meta because 1) ana's value diminishes with fewer tanks and i never see triple tank, 2) i can carry with zen because gold and plat are nothing but unorganized squishies killing each other, 3) the value i can provide with a non meta hero is greater than what i can provide with a meta hero, 4) Discord is by far the best way of forcing focus fire on a team that isnt doing it If you dont pick who youre best with youre at a competitive disadvantage. You cant control who other people pick and you cant force them to play as a team in the ideal way.
Heroes the pros play. I think the pro meta is triple tank --Rein+Roadhog/Zarya/DVA-- with Ana and Lucio, and 1 DPS (usually Soldier). Doesn't work at lower levels of play because people don't group up, making Ana less viable. Best comp for lower level is 2 dps, 2 tank, 2 support.
The only thing this next patch will change is how many tanks are viable. triple tank is still going to dominate just less dva.
i'm glad less dva what an annoying fucking class to play and play against give me Rein/Road/Zarya all day erry day
I personally hate Rein the most. He's not stupid op like DVA, but he literally singlehandedly slows games to a crawl. Overwatch is at its best during those rare chaotic scrambles when Rein's shield breaks and hell breaks loose. Game would be so much more fun if it didn't take an extra 30 seconds for that to happen.
rein. Game isn't a crawl if you have a good rein and Ana. I love initiating with rein when I have a great Ana and Zarya on my team. It's just so satisfying killing people with him as well.
Team fuck rein at low levels and in uncoordinated groups. I'd rather go dive or squad. Fucking reins walking up to the choke and just standing there doing not shit. Oh your barrier was destroyed? probably because there's a bastion and soldier right there. If dva wasnt flying around the point by herself or trying to be a dps she could eat the bullets but no. Or maybe like just walk through that door so we can start the push. Nah, it's a better idea to walk up there, get the barrier destroyed, then go charging out of sight of the healer(s).
The console meta: Rein, Winston/Zarya/two of Mei, Roadhog, Pharah, DVa, Torb, Sym, Soldier/two of Lucio, Zen, Mercy Randomly insert a suprise bastion and baby you've got a stew going. I nearly vomit when i see anything else.
I can't imagine playing this or any FPS on consoles. Growing up playing Doom/Quake on forward has broken me from ever being able to play fps's that way. my bnet ID is in the OP for anyone who wants to play PC, I dont play all that much tho
Had one of my best days in comp to date yesterday. Even when team comp was shit it managed to work itself out (once by someone on the other team leaving). Was sooo nice to have a low rage Overwatch day. Was like video game Valium
That's awesome. Got up 200 yesterday and I was in the same boat. I would win, put down the controller and tell myself not to push my luck, come back later and win again. I'm getting better at switching off to plug a hole even if I'm dominating with a hero. I think that's helping me out. It just kinda sucks sometimes to shred one side with soldier and then trot my mildly serviceable lucio out on the next side. But if it equals wins, I'll sacrifice my good time
Wish I had more time to play. Still on a 10+ game win streak (let's not count that draw on hanumura with a 6-5 advantage... you dumb fucking reinhardt)
hes one of the single easiest characters to play skill wise, you just need to know strategy and communicate every third game i play with a rein who barely keeps his shield up and charges into the entire enemy team over and over and over
