finally getting back into OW and I am flat out terrible. I wouldn't say that I'm particularly good with any one hero, I play mostly McCree/Zen/Lucio/Winston and a bit of Soldier and sporadically have good games with each (3+ gold medals) but I'm so inconsistent aiming with a controller and I'm far from good enough to carry silver games in comp (and I'm usually the only player with a mic) so I mostly stick to quickplay which actually makes me rage just as much as comp does anyway I'm on Xbox ... gt: X Petito X
Quick play makes me rage, comp makes me rage, the title screen makes me rage, the Overwatch tab on my PlayStation makes me rage, the month of May makes me rage...
Before I ever got into Overwatch I had a friend (who I've played numerous multiplayer games with) tell me that Overwatch was the least rage inducing game he ever played. What a fucking liar that guy is
played a few games today for the first time in a few months. for some reason i still just can't get into this game. not sure what it is. but, it's just not for me. makes me sad.
This is one of the most rage inducing games I've ever played. I'm high gold/low platinum and the usual team composition makes throw my controller through my TV.
Most of you may think it gets better as you climb ranks, the ole "if I can just get to [insert tier above yours here] it will be better." I'm here to tell you that it doesn't.
I know it does. I've played several games over time with a Diamond team comp and players are much more likely to switch and adhere to a better team comp in diamond than in gold/plat. It's not even fucking close. I can only assume it remains a thing as you climb Also, there's several characters in the game that have skill cap high enough that you shouldn't see them over and over in lower ranks. Constantly seeing people roll mccree and hanzo and genji when they have absolutely no business doing so and contributing none is as frustrating as it gets.
I'm just gonna become a Doomfist main and auto-lock every game so that when I suck ass and my team loses I can say its because I'm learning a new character
Diamond is like all levels of overwatch. 50+% chance to have throwers and probably 90% chance to have shit team comp. The ONLY way to have consistent team comp is by 6 stacking. Otherwise, every game will feature 4-5 dps players, and if you're lucky, a solo heal/tank. It doesn't get better. Masters is the same. Haven't been to GM, but I've been in matches with SR averages 4k plus, and it was more of the same. It's just the lottery of matchmaking. I'm 100000% better on S76 and Tracer than other roles, but if I don't flex, we will either have zero or only 1 heal, or 0 or 1 tank in 90% of my games. It is what it is. Overwatch desperately needs a "prefer role" option when searching. Support and tank mains are rare indeed.
I'm a soldier main with a 4.38 kda at 3800~ right now, but he's only my 3rd highest time played character because I never get to play dps because everyone is a dps main. I play a pretty diverse group of heroes, so I don't mind flexing at all, but it sucks when you still get the genji main that feeds all game and refuses to get off dps because it's all they play. It's really luck of the draw on just who you get as teammates. Sometimes you'll have people that'll flex, and sometimes you'll get the guys that think they can carry. That never changes throughout the ranks. Team comps in gold/plat are definitely worse, but unfortunately it doesn't get much better unless you play with friends. Every time I see a diamond McCree I want to quit immediately. It never goes well.
I do the same thing to the point I feel like I can't even claim a "main". Although at this point I'm not very good with any tank after the changes to hog and dva. Gold and Play is miserable. I'm quite alright with losing as long as the people I play with treat the game like a team based shooter. I can't tell you the last time I had a loss in gold that I felt ok with. It's always a direct result of bad team comp and poor understanding of the game. Every time. Attack bastion. Fml
Give me warm up matches and I'm comfortable with Lucio, Mercy, Zen, Winston, D.Va, Mei, Sym, Pharah, Solider, Sombra. My Zarya has been complete shit since season 2 for whatever reason. I think that's when the 50>40 change happened. I try to play Tracer but I'm even more inconsistent with her than I usually am with anything. Like Ana on pc but not console.
Nothing feels better than a fully charged Zarya but I'm shit with her. I wouldn't mind if they buffed the shield lengths or cooldowns.
Almost like you belong in GM or something I've given up on gaining SR until my connection is stable again. Which should be soon. Accepted a job and moving back to Lexington in August
Apparently Blizz is experimenting with a Junkrat buff. May give him an extra concussion mine charge and improve his ult slightly. Junkrat: - Concussion Mine, damage reduced to 90, reduce cooldown to 4 seconds - Junkrat Trap, increase damage to 110 - Results - Trap+Mine = 200 damage - Grenade+Mine = 210 damage - Trap is way more deadly. - Can't spam 2 mines and kill 200HP. For balance reasons. - Grenade + Mine is a much more frequent and consistent combo - Junkrat's survivability and mobility goes way up because he can use a ConcMine every 4 seconds to engage/retreat.] "This is pretty close to what we're trying with him, and what will likely be on the PTR when it comes back up. Currently on our internal builds Junkrat has 2 charges of his Concussion Mine. This allows you to do all kinds of cool stuff like launch yourself into a fight and still have a charge to escape with, or launch yourself up into a Pharah and still have a charge to try and kill her with. Previously this was possible before but you had to plant one on the ground and then wait for the cooldown to come back before doing this. That is still possible, which allows for a triple jump now if you want/need that, but now it is a lot more reliable to do with 2. It has been a ton of fun to play with so far. We're also looking at making his ult a bit better. We're experimenting with a movement speed increase or a health increase on the tire. We wouldn't do both things but in either case it should be more reliable to use in more situations."
They need to adjust the game to make junkrat relevant. The worst part about junkrat is the fact that chip damage feeds ults to the other team, if the game didn't charge ults with heals he's a much better character
Doomfist review: I have no fucking clue what I'm doing and I'm not great at playing a melee squishy with auto reload
He's got bad survivability for someone who needs to be in the mix. I badly wanna git gud with him tho. Seems to be a flow to combat that seems fun
It seems like the only options are to make him incredibly overpowered or change the dynamics of the game.
Doomfist has amazing survivability. He's mobile as fuck. Not to mention his ult can be used as a get out of jail free card. He's supposed to be used as counter dive. He can wreck most any dive character 1v1.
Probably just button mashing with no clue what I'm doing, but I found a surprising number of times where I'm in the middle of the fight with no abilities and no firepower. The auto-reload part is what takes the most getting used to for me.
just for shits and gigs i downloaded overwatch onto an old laptop. played one match and sat at about 20 fps the whole time. was hilarious.
ROADHOG IS FINE YOU JUST NEED TO PLAY HIM WITH TEAM NOW. All Ranks: 0.84% pick rate (2nd lowest, only bastion worse at 0.54%). 43.44% winrate (lowest) GM Tier: 0.18% pick rate (2nd lowest, only bastion worse at 0.15%) 38.26% winrate (by far the lowest. next lowest is bastion at 46.83%)
Cry a little more, i still dont fucking care. 26 other heroes in the game, he's never going back to what he was. Get over it.
I still run into people who play road hog and play him well so whatever. He's supposed getting buffed soon anyway so I guess the crying worked. I'll be glad too, reading bricks heartache via text is awkward most of the time
he would be good in a deathball against a deathball right now, that's about it. he can't play vs dive for shit unless they cut that hook cd in half.
No worse feeling than having 5 people insta-lock dps. The ole healer or tank decision, e.g. diamond meta. I usally go healer. Sometimes a dps is nice enough to switch to a tank. Never a Winston though. Only Hog or Zarya. Thumbs up, dumbass. My findings are that I'm a master level DPS player, but I'm so often forced into tank/heals, I've settled around mid to high diamond. I can't carry as a healer since the Ana nerf. Sometimes I can as Zenyatta, but it's tough to consistently carry as Zen. Sigh.
Played last night and got to 3995. I was at 3980 going into the last game and only got 15 SR for winning.
Been trying to become a solid DVa/Rein player, but it's amazing how often lower level players (I'm high silver/low gold) don't take advantage of what you're trying to do for them. No reason for me to lumber around as a tank when other players aren't using the opportunities I'm creating. Guess I'll just go back to Solider, get gold objective elims and lose.
my doomfist is improving. now i feel like i have to play him or my team suffers (because everyone else probably sucks worse and he will definitely be picked)
I'm actually a really solid doomfist now although I feel like I still have a long way to go. Never felt this confident this early with sombra or orrisa. My biggest problem so far is realizing to use my fist charge to escape if I'm outnumbered because I want so badly to punch someone in the face with it
