I've been guilty of that charging in as Rein. Id guess it happens to y'all bc the Rein shield is melted reallllly fast. Then it's charge or waste time fighting the choke, which can be even more frustrating. I have a hard time hating on Reins and healers, especially if I don't feel like filling either of those roles. DPS characters literally have the least room to talk shit abt support roles imo, bc 9 out of 10 times, the healers and Rein would rather be playing dps and are just trying to be team players by filling the those roles. And of course communication can solve 95% of these issues.
Like Gin Buckets said, most of the time, a bad Rein is a person who is uncomfortable on him, but assumes the team "needs" a rein, so they're trying to be a team player. Also, Rein is definitely not a low skill hero. His decision making wins or loses games. Aim wise, yes, swing the hammer, but knowing when to take cover, bait the other rein, use your ult, go for a pin, etc, isn't exactly easy. Rein probably has the most decisions to make during a game. And with bad healing, he's pretty much neutered.
Rein is the most important hero in the game in a lot of scenarios. His kit is low skill to use, and little aim is required, but pushes live and die with good rein play. Positioning, shield management, and knowing when to pin as rein are key. There's nothing more frustrating than watching a friendly rein walk with his shield up taking unnecessary damage before the real fight even starts. When that happens you'll inevitably lose the shield fight and have to wait for a regen. People that think rein is low skill have either never played him or never played him much. Good rein play often needs good Ana play though, always let your Ana know when you're pinning in so she can hit a nade on your back and heal while probably anti healing a few of the enemy team. Also try to coordinate your pins with a Zarya if you have so she can bubble you on the charge.
Rein has a low floor but very high ceiling. I fucking suck with him, I'm not nearly patient enough to wait for opportunities to fuck the other team up like a good rein does. I usually am the off tank as roadhog or Zarya.
capture the flag is fucking trash what a surprise how do they manage to make every arcade mode so unfun
CTF game mode is sorta fun, but 6 out of my 7 games have been draws, and zero games have had more than 2 caps per team. Torb/Junk/Symettra/Winston combos not moving from their flag makes it not very fun.
Love the roadhog fix. Been waiting so long for it, and it works so well. Love being able to one shot reapers now, and not having to guess where Lucio is going to land
I know I'm in the kverwatch thread and you guys will be like get it., but I'm looking for a new game and was thinking overwatch. Am I going to get murdered? Is it mindless entertainment which I'm kind of looking for?
it really has a strangw way of making you feel better than you actually are at it if (if that makes sense). playing quick play and arcade modes are a lot of fun and the game has skill based match making so youre never really overwhelmed. buy this game. its just really fun. i suggest to you to not go into comp until you really understand the nuances and sharpen your skills with a couple different heros
Matchmaking uses a skill based system rather than everyone thrown in together so no, you wont get killed. Bliz has designed it to be both an intense competitive game and mindlessly casual. My first 40 hours or so was the latter while most since have been the former. Great game, probably the most fun i've had with a shooter win or lose. I def recommend it.
I like a good shooter, but haven't enjoyed a COD or Battlefield in sometime. In fact plants zombies GW 1 &2 were the most enjoyable recently. Looking for something a little more intense though and it seems like OW may be that.
when overwatch is at its best (which is much more often than the others you listed) it can be just flat out white knuckled intensity that when its over with, win or lose, youll have a smile on your face
My favorite pvp shooters since the original black ops have been pvz and overwatch. I think it's what youre looking for.
Ctf is alright, but nothing that great. It's almost like when blizzard said they weren't including it in launch because it didn't fit in the game they weren't lying. They're pretty fun games when you don't play a team that's camping on point with a bastion, sym, and junkrat.
i'm confident it would feel better on maps designed for it. i'm not saying i don't like how it feels now, anything that breaks up the "only team fights matter" line of thinking they've used thus far is welcome imo. except deathmatch
meh itll make defending home a priority sure but i played 5 games yesterday and each was a draw. send tracer and sombra in and use the rest to defend
I played 10 games total of CTF, trying to get 3 wins for the 2nd lootbox. Won 2, lost 1, and had 7 draws. But I finally figured out a cheesy way to capture. Play Winston. Leap onto point, where undoubtedly, you start getting melted by Sym's turrets/trapped by Junk, and then spammed by Torb's turret/Bastion. Throw up your shield. Fire in a circle, hoping to take out a few Sym turrets. Shield gets melted instantly, health melts instantly, BUT if you actually have the flag captured, pop your primal rage, and gtfo. Literally the only time in 10 matches I was able to cap was with this method. I almost got a sombra cheese capture at the beginning of the game while the defense wasn't set up, but my tp reset right as the flag was captured. CTF without hero limits might work. You'd run into 36 sym turrets on the flag + 650hp symmetra tanks, but multiple winstons would make capturing a breeze
i imagine a competitive ctf would add an overtime mechanic with the next flag scored winning the match
