At least theres less goats than in the playoffs. Not really even sure how to fix it. Maybe nerf ult recharge for tanks and healers? Maybe nerf healing altogether? Idk, but im still watching and enjoying owl.
They’re probably going to have to nerf support ults. Either that or come out with a new hero that is exceptionally good against deathball.
remember what happened when they released one that was exceptionally good against dive? ultimately the problem is we just dont have as many heroes as we need. the dps pool is fine, but we still probably need a couple more. there's one deathball main tank, whatever orisa is, and two dive main tanks. there's two viable off tanks and one is used 95% of the time as a dps. healers need work too. someone to compete with zen would be nice, but that seems like what hero 30 will be. i don't think we need as many new healers as we do tanks, but we do need more. blizz needs to add bout 20 heroes over the next few years and add a ban system. otherwise it's going to be 5+ years until we get to the point we need to be.
They made many changes that impacted dive negatively and death ball positively. It was almost like they wanted goats to become the optimum way to play. Brig has been OP from the start, so it just exacerbated the changes. They definitely need more heroes. Overwatch is supposed to be about counter picking. If a team were to pick goats you should ideally be able to pick to another counter comp and not have the best option being more goats. Which is why we need an anti deathball hero. It will help build the foundation of a comp that can counter goats. A ban system would be great, and I hope that’s where the game is heading.
Lucio/Brig have been the constant in almost all goats comps. Ana/Zen/Moira have been swapped in and out (zen is used mostly now) as the third healer. Speedboost enables engagements, and brig+lucio aura heals are necessary for deathball. Zen helps kill faster outside of ults due to discord, but goats was a strong comp before he got slotted in. Double defensive ults are also very, very strong. Basically OW's healing is much more powerful than DPS. And then off tanks are just beefier DPS heroes, making DPS worthless. So either 1) buff DPS ults to counter defensive ults or kill tanks faster somehow; 2) nerf healing / defensive ults; or 3) nerf tank damage Ban system would work too. Ban Lucio/brig, no goats. Ban DVA, no dive. So on and so forth. Ban system the smartest bet imo.
I should know this by now but people are so unbearable on this game. I don't play for a month and decay to 3000. First game I have to solo heal Moira cuz nobody will run healer.. doing 20k In healing at this point when people start talking about about the healer not doing their job. Too many dense 16 year olds on these blizzard games
I randomly hopped into team chat with a bunch of randos. Heard two puberty infused teenage voices and immediately hopped into my own private XBL party chat as per usual.
Problem is that without quality healing characters nobody wants to play healer. Back when dive was big the discussion was buffing healing survivability. That's always been the trouble with this game.. they try and balance it for both casuals and pros
I still have tons of fun playing 4v4 with my friends. Too bad it only is available once a month. Should just balance it for pros and let every one fall in line or wallow in the shit. Lucio, zen, brig(as much as i hate her), and especially Ana are all fun to play. And mercy is the most picked character in the game on ladder. It’s just that more people care about hitting cool shots on widow/McCree than actually winning. A huge problem is smurfs that don’t play dps on their mains autolocking it. They don’t care about winning enough to play where they are most valuable.
This is the real issue with Overwatch competitive. If 1/12 players decides to play for fun versus playing "meta," the most competitive strat at the highest level is ruined currently. Goats is the best comp in 95% of situations -- same 6 heroes. Goats doesn't work at a lower level because teams aren't coordinated. For OWL though, this meta is almost unwatchable. No matter how much healers may have bitched about getting killed, Zen has always been able to easily 1 vs 1 a DPS if shots are hit. Lucio is one of the hardest heroes to kill. Brig is useless at range, but anything in her reach gets fucked hard. Mercy is slippery as hell, & can fly away on a whim. Moira destroys DPS with bad aim, and also is one of the easiest healers to survive with. Only Ana struggles due to her low damage, but a sleep dart is an instant win and gives her a fighting chance. Brig obviously can protect herself. Point is that healers should not be able to 1 vs 1 DPS reliably, and if so, it should be a situation like Zen/Lucio/Ana, where it's possible if you're good. Ideally, you're also in a position where if you're being dove/flanked, it's detrimental to the enemy team (e.g. good positioning). I don't think healers have been weak at any point in this game. Defensive ults (Zen/Lucio) have always been the strongest, and still are. From a balance standpoint, this should be obvious for Blizzard. DPS should outdamage tanks/healers. That's the point of the characters.
The meta doesn't affect me at all when playing. Goats just isn't possible because of shit coordination in lower ranks. But OWL viewing currently is just looking at the top of the screen. Oh, looks like X team has 2 defensive ults while Y team has zero. The fight then lasts about 45 seconds with a hovering cam showing zero FPS mechanics, and then X team ultimately wins the fight. Rinse and repeat. It's not fun to watch, and I imagine viewer numbers are going to dwindle in stage 2 if goats is still prevalent.
I still watch a good bit of owl, I think my favorite part is when teams come out with quad dps + ball + mercy. Houston did this first point Nepal against New York and it was the only time they looked competitive.
Chengdu plays a lot of hammond as well. Very weird play style, but it has worked for them so far. Even so, they still mostly run 3 supports + 3 tanks most of the time, swapping rein with hammond.
Also, this reminded me of this. Houston rolls out with 3 dps (crowd cheers), then nopes back into spawn and goes goats (crowd boos). lol
I personally love playing as Moira. In fact I don’t really like playing as DPS characters for the most part. Been playing Moira or Lucio if healer or Rein, Hog, Orisa if tank.
I forget which team it was but when I was watching OL last week a guy came out as Torbjorn and the crowd went wild. Dude shredded people.
That’s Dafran, noted troll streamer and torb god. He’s an insane hitscan player, might be the best in the league. I like Atlanta just because of him.
Dafran. That moment is even better when you consider his history with Torb. He was (still is) a popular streamer that was one of the best pros in America. Played on Selfless, and their famous strat was spawncamping teams and teabagging/disrepsecting them. He eventually had a mental breakdown, and started a movement called "throw4dafran." He watched cooking videos on youtube while playing torb, walking around throwing games. He was literally the #1 ranked player on ladder when he started. He ended up getting banned from OW for a long time, but "reformed," and returned as a streamer. He did an "unranked to top 500" challenge playing only Torb when he returned. So yeah, him playing Torb was pretty cool for OW fans.
He is a god at Soldier 76. His aim/tracking is literally aimbot level. He's also very good at Tracer, but S76 is his best hero.
Pretty much this. He’s an insane tracer and the best S76. Only other person that I think might be as good as him at soldier would be akm.
Forgot to mention that before he started streaming he was working at McDonalds. When owl started he bought all the Florida skins because of their red and yellow color scheme and named his account burger flipper.
Those are some wild abilities. I can't really tell which ability is the ultimate because they both seem really overpowered
I think the area of effect that prevents death gives advantage to the defending team in a goats v goats brawl. Plus the rest of the goats setup doesn't seem to benefit from his ult that boosts projectile damage and healing. I think this will shake stuff up if people pick him or be totally ignored if he's not good enough to change the meta.
pretty solid gun two aoe heals heal and damage amp aoe zone you literally cant die in if that wasnt enough he can also jump about 3x higher than any other hero just amazing
I think blizzard is pretty much injecting him into the game to shake stuff up at this point. I'd be surprised if he isn't used in most games with that kit.
i dont see why immortality field would favor one team over the other. what will happen is one team speed boosts in, both teams drop the field, nothing dies. when he has ult he will stay back slightly like zen already does and heal an infinite amount so nothing ever dies. an interesting scenario would be pairing him with a widow when he has ult and they just destroy everyone with an unnecessary amount of damage.
It doesn't look like the field stays up for too long so I was thinking it could favor whoever has possition. Easier to drop it if you're not being as mobile.
And dva becomes even more important. Between this and the diablo mobile game I think blizzard is trying to make their fans hate them. No one wants more goats.

lets brainstorm ideas for him rework torb change his ult to level 3 turret with alpha bastion type shield put a two shot molten core on a 6 second cooldown. or give him 4 molten core shots that recharge like tracers blink/dooms primary
