yeah fights go on a lot longer. I kinda like it. Seems like a buff to Rein -- I've been playing him on QP and just feels like I am always up.
I think it makes Mercy way too OP. If she is going to res 30-40% of all deaths pretty much every game, then her healing needs to be nerfed substantially. I guess it allows more aggressive gameplay, but kills/picks are no longer valuable.
I enjoyed the free weekend on PC quite a bit. The game seems to be pretty balanced, runs smooth, and is generally pretty fun. Getting yelled at by 12-year olds because I haven't played since the beta and I know fuck-all about who counters who wasn't very fun, but that's online games anymore if you're playing solo. I would buy it if I knew more people that played (and had more time to get decent). Relying on randoms seems like it would be much worse than even Counter-Strike.
Playing solo in overwatch is the most infuriating experience you can imagine if you aren't at a really high SR
This is me. Pretty much avoided competitive in S6 because of how infuriating it is and I'm having a lot of fun playing mystery heroes instead. Decided to finally crank out some placement matches yesterday. Had a troll Mei throwing the game. No thanks.
Idk, my placements netted me like +300 from the end of my previous season. I know Super Vegeta had similar results. I guess if you carry hard, placements are more rewarding than in the past based on these two scientifically proven anecdotal experiences. I just bought a PC about a month ago and I've played OW a little bit. I'm down to duo/stack with master race PCers if you'll have me. Goes for any PC user, btw. Bnet is theLAW#12872 Climbing from gold (2-8 placements) to plat was pretty easy. Was on a 10+ win streak at one point, and it kinda sucks that the win streak bonus is gone. What could have been a 500+ SR gain was cut in half. I'm a DPS main, but can flex any role competently. I'm best on hit scan though (tracer/s76). Not sure if Plat to Diamond on PC will be harder to do. My SR on console ranges between mid-high diamond, with a peak around 3700. I've never try-harded for SR though. 99% of my games are in 5 stacks (forever 5).
No, they changed the placement formula. Seriously, check the patch notes. The past few seasons they ranked you lower than your “true” rank so people could “enjoy” climbing up the ladder. They removed that for this season.
just played a fun match on anubis last one to pick a hero, take mercy because no healer. and there's a sym. cool, easy teleporter with damage boost. so i grab a mic and say "ok sym, i'm going to damage boost you. no reason we shouldn't have a teleporter in under a minute." sym goes and sets up turrets by health packs me - "no, please go put them by the spawn door" sym - "that's stupid, it doesn't work" me - "i play sym all the time, it's an easy 40% at least. especially in gold." sym - "nah" me - "ok, well if there's no teleporter 1:30 in i'm switching to my worst hero" timer keeps going down, no turrets by spawn, sym doesn't charge up a shot to fire at the door as it opens me - ".............................................................................................................................................................." 2:30 in i've rezd sym twice, she has no teleporter, and we lose the point finished the match as widow. good times.
moral or the story, if you're going to play weird niche heroes that play in a specific way you should probably know what that specific way is
I never put turrets on the spawn door as Sym. Securing choke point/loading up the capture point is more effective in my experience. I get your point though. What was the sym dying to? If your team had no barrier tanks and she died to spam, can't really blame her. If she tried to flank before the enemy team committed to a team fight, it was prob her fault.
even without a lucio you can have 3-4 turrets off cooldown after firing that first shot. no reason not to put some up there. if you want all 6 available to throw up in the choke then don't put 6 at the door. maybe the biggest difference here is i play in gold/low plat. those people are too stupid to use a different door. they just walk through dying thinking "what is this damaging me from behind i wonder quietly to myself". ult in 20 seconds. gg ez
I usually get sym's ult from my primary/alt fire, and use the turrets for information/zone control. Putting 2-3 turrets on random healthpacks is also a good way to get quick charge and to finish off low-hp heroes trying to heal. Similar to loading up the spawn door, but less predictable. But I guess spawn door traps are better for golds? Idk. Usually if a sym dies before a tp, it means your team got dove/rolled, the sym was out of position, and/or no tanks/bad tank play.
i mean not necessarily at the door, scattered about before the first choke is usually more effective at higher ranks. there's plenty of time to set 1-2 up at the choke as you pass, put a few forward, fire off the first shot, and move back to put the rest at the choke except on eichenwalde
Yeah, really is map dependent. I'd put 3 on the choke at Eichenwalde, and then a couple on the stairs on the right, and 1 in the health pack room on the left (offense perspective) to alert if someone sneaks in. Easiest defense point in Overwatch. I hate attacking that first point.
It's really just three different chokes, two of which can be comfortably defended at one time if the first is lost.
For whatever reason, people get severe anxiety and freeze up right at the bridge. If my ass is on tank, I walk forward and don't stop until I die. People are so anxious about dying and getting shit-talked by teammates, so they just do nothing. Goes for just about any choke point while on offense. It's better to die and lose 5 team fights than it is to stand at the choke poking back and forth hoping for a pick. One method requires luck/someone on the other team fucking up, while the other at least gives you a chance.
i just pick sombra or pharah and go over. gold players are dumb and half the team will leave the choke to go kill me.
That's usually how defenses break down. A flanker gets through and a disorganized team commits too many players to go after him, and the front line falls apart. Which is why being aggressive on offense almost always pays off.
We played a 6 stack last night running Torb/Bastion + Rein/Orisa + Mercy/Ana (both pocketing the bastion almost exclusively) on Dorado. Every time we'd kill him, immediate res. They rolled us until we counter bastion'd them. Ended up winning 4-3, holding them literally right outside their spawn door. Bastion is such an unfun hero to play against.
Dva is still probably the best off tank despite matrix being shit now. I think all of the tanks are viable now. Buff to Ana/Zen or nerf of Mercy is the only change the game "needs" imo (not necessarily bc Ana/Zen are underpowered, Mercy is just completely OP in comparison).
Mei is up there with Tracer as one of the heroes I can't play at all and a good one absolutely infuriates me.
The only thing underwhelming about Mei is her damage output. Faster alt fire would up her damage. I don't think buffing the freeze would go over well. But... I also kind of like your idea. Increase the freeze range, but also make the time to freeze a lot longer.Would make Mei sort of an anti-speed hero, with a freeze coming only after a long time focusing one target. Gives her a stronger CC but allows her targets a fighting chance.
