On episode 4 and it is obvious where they are going, Wendy will become the complete maniac like all the other women in the show.
Really enjoyed the season. The girl that plays Ruth deserves an Emmy. Really like the development of Jonah. Ben is super hateable.
I didn't hate the Ben character, but they spent way too much time with him towards the end. I think they gave him the perfect circumstance to make him terribly annoying but if you know he's bipolar it's hard to think "FUCK THIS GUY" imo.
S3E9 was just incredible. Ben’s opening scene where he’s talking about his illness and how it makes him feel was one of the best in the series.
Okay so can someone explain to me why Spoiler Helen was killed? Did I miss something or did it come from nowhere?
Spoiler He knew what she was trying to do with the FBI deal. Even the FBI agent confronted her about her "conflict of interest". She didn't know what the Byrd's were up to and they already promised to end the war, so he knew she was selling everyone up the River to save her own ass.
Spoiler Marty is a pretty shit human. They absolutely deserve each other. Also the guy who played Ben was awesome. When Ben starting falling apart that shit was hard to watch. The scene where they told him they were committing him...... The wife asking what he wanted to do for the next 5 years and you fucking knew what was about to happen. Shit had me in my feels. I guess because I have a sibling and couldn't imagine having to deal with something like that and ultimately betraying some I love so dearly
Seriously lol @ picking sides in that couple. Marty got in deep and put his entire family in danger but ultimately Wendy emerges as every bit the psychopath.
Spoiler Navarro had to choose one or the other. Byrd's promised to end the war, Helen said the Byrd's were a risk. Byrd's sacrificed their biggest risk for the cause
I liked the character of Ben and seemed, to me, to be well written in regards to mental illness. Also, seemed to me that every move Wendy made just made things worse Ending was wow, that was abrupt
Spoiler Ehhhh, you can make the case that while what she did make things worse, ultimately her risk taking saved them in the end. Because she made one good/awful decision to correct all her bad decision making that proved their loyalty enough to knock off one of their biggest adversaries. Although it did cost them Ruth in the process.
I can understand getting annoyed with the character of Ben but that's the whole point. He put on a master class in acting. That scene in the cab is going to stick out to me for a long time
Spoiler Darlene standing there getting emotional and tearing up looking at Wyatt and Ruth standing in front of her poppy field was excellent. Her sadistic ass thinks she has a family now. It's going to be so messed up and I cant wait
In a season with some very strong acting I thought he stole the season. The final 4 episodes he was nothing short of amazing. Spoiler Begging to not be locked up, conversation with the cab driver. Never giving up on doing what was right even as it pushed his sister to ultimately OK the hit on him.
Just finished the season, and read through the thread. Really wasn't expecting people to have problems with Ben. I thought he was absolutely incredible, and stood out acting wise in a really well acted and great season.
Finished this season the other night and thought it was very good overall. Echo many other's statement's about Tom Pelphrey's portrayal of Ben being exceptional. Spoiler: S3E9 Something I found interesting was that Ben's last meal was about three miles from where I grew up in suburban Atlanta. It is a bbq restaurant named J.R.'s Log House which I used to pass every day from 3rd-12th grade on my way to and from school. I thought I recognized it and had to do some google street view searching to make sure it wasn't somewhere else. It makes sense since their primarily area of filming is just down the road at Eagle Rock Studios in Norcross.
it’s not how I saw it, the guy was annoying as fuck as a 30 plus years old man acting like a child. That was before we knew he was bipolar. And he really was annoying sometimes but that’s the character. I think there is a disconnect here between what we are talking about, the character was annoying with his stupidity...the actor did a phenomenal job.
i might have to rewatch but I don’t remember him doing anything dumb before he went off his meds. If you’re calling him being annoying or acting like a child before he went off his meds please let me know what he did to make you feel that way. Everything he did that was irrational was a result off being of his meds.
the boat incident, but I also hated his demeanor. And the way he talks. It’s really more of a personal thing I guess.
The first time we saw him he went off the deep end in the class room and the beat up the worker outside. I'm assuming the reason he flipped out was because he was off his meds at that time.
