I can't blame ALL of S1 dullness on Brendanawicz. All the main characters were thrashing around for their identities while they and the writers found them. And the strength of the show was eventually that it wasn't carried by 2-3 great characters. They rolled at least 10 deep, and then Ben and Chris showed up. And then you had the Ethel Beavers and Joan Calamezzo and the "cranks at the town hall" recurring bit parts. Just gold.

After 15 seasons of simpsons as my falling asleep show, I’m back to parks and rec. and like a true fan (TM) I’m starting with season 1 it’s an entirely different show. It’s crazy
