It's a dark and slower season than the rest. I just did a rewatch and fast forwarded through all the scenes involving Esme. There was definitely close to a full episode wasted on the gypsy shit / TB. Overall though I enjoyed it again and think it sets up for a damn good movie. There was more dialogue in this season than 2 of the early seasons combined. Show just isn't the same for me without Pol unfortunately.
Finished the last season finally. Probably the weakest out of all of them, but it certainly had its moments. When Jeremiah walked out of that cloud of mustard gas with a tommy gun and lit up that IRA dude I started yelling at my TV lol. It's a great show, and I'll miss it. Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy dialogue scenes are just grade A television.
I finally watched the latest season this week. Loved the scene between them in the bar after the car bomb. Their scenes together are always so damn good.
I wouldnt say it falls off a cliff. id agree the earlier seasons are the best. last 2 or 3 are a little uneven. season 3 is best imo.
My biggest issue was that it felt like just a prelude to the future movie instead of a more self-contained final tv season
Yea it absolutely did not ever fall off a cliff it’s not Game of Thrones. Season 5 and 6 just got a little more slow and dark than the previous 4 that were cracked out.
Considering Helen McCrory played that role as good as anyone could have... may want to scrap the Polly side-story. I doubt many people want Polly's performance tarnished by some prequel show. I'm guessing the other one would be Michael? Since he's the only one who ever leaves the country. Couldn't care less about Michael at this point.
