As someone who hasn’t done a sit-up in who knows how long and also has terrible posture. Feeling the burn after day 4 of that core program.
Been riding for about a month now, just random classes that pop up, no program or anything. Decided to mix in the core program too starting this week. Need to pickup some weights soon too. Having this bike definitely has me the most motivated I’ve ever been to do things like this.
I think it was Emma who I heard it from first but the salt water (ocean, tears, sweat) curing “all” is so true. I know it’s cheesy but the Coldplay ride always gets me in the feels. It was exactly what I needed today. About as close I’ve ever gotten to breaking down on the bike.
Did Jess Sims’ 60 minute bodyweight bike boot camp and I want to fucking die. Definitely participated in all of it but pry had to take a break/modify in the last 25% of floor stuff. “No ego amigo” indeed.
Feel like shit. First workout I just completely quit on. Hopefully I’ll get out of my head. Maybe I should just do cardio type workouts that I can zone out in. Maybe I’ll try again tomorrow.
It happens. Maybe make a playlist of shit you really like and just do a scenic ride. Something to let you just go through the motions without the mental aspect of it. Ive done that a few times.
This is a good idea I have never considered. There’s some days I just want to listen to my own music but still want to ride. This never crossed my mind.
About half of my rides are exactly this. I even turn off all the lights so I can completely zone out.
Bike+ just got delivered and set up; What instructors do I need to check out. Any other quirks/features/things I need to do? Using my Apple Watch w/ gym kit as my heart monitor.
Have the standard bike and love it. Have been on the fence about getting a tread, but probably going to order the tread+ this weekend. Anybody have any reason I shouldn’t do this?
We are going to get it once/if we move and have a bigger space. My wife doesn’t like biking and is a runner so she is all in on that. That would probably be the only question is will it be a value add.
Yeah that is really our only question is if we got a tread will one just collect dust. I don’t foresee myself running much so the answer was easy. Bike is mine and then the tread is hers.
I agree with try them all, but the most mentioned here are probably Emma, Kendall, Olivia and Jess Sims(boot camp) in some order. Dennis and Alex are good and Matt Wilpers is the best for learning the fundamentals of riding if you can tolerate his music. Enjoy!
The programs will be a good guide to sampling types of rides and instructors. Kendall, Emma are probably the top 2 of this thread.
I got my regular bike about six weeks ago. As someone already said just try classes/instructors and see what you like. I was surprised to see how many different types of classes there are, between the actual workouts and the different music playlists/themes. Alex is easily my favorite instructor because of the music (hip hop) he selects in his classes and I also like how he’s a pretty good mix of intense but also motivating. Kendall is the other instructor I really like as well when I want a change of pace but still pretty good workout. My only other advice is something I learned after about a month. Don’t be afraid to take a day off or do a recovery ride. I rode it 30ish days straight and was pushing myself like crazy, basically started from scratch. Eventually it caught up with me and my knees were dead. Now I have tried to mix in a day of stretching and call it an “off day”.
Peloton adding Pilates. Bae, Hannah, Aditi, Kristin and Sam are the instructors. Very excited as haven’t dived into weights and more just doing body weight stuff.
Think peloton is down right now. Cant connect to classes. See others complaining about it to. Edit: seems like it’s fixed.
Supposedly these were all filmed in September. I am curious what their strategy is with this and Barre. They seem much better prepared with this than Barre as there is mention of adding specialized Pilates instructors. With the Barre stuff they released everything and then hasn’t been any new content since. However that only featured Ally and Hannah and that just seems doomed to fail/lag behind trying to stretch them too thin between the bike and all the other off the bike content. Guessing they are trying to ‘beta’ what new classes to focus on.
Did Emma’s Elvis ride. Enjoyed it a lot. Was gonna go on a political rant but decided against that. It is a cool ride with enjoyable music. I think we all know the problems associated with it so no need to do it.
Daniel Ocean My friend, you need to do this 30 min gute energie ride with german peloton instructor Irene sholtze. shes awesome and it's all about good energy. I planned for a nice and easy ride and needed some good mental health. next thing I know I had a solid 420 kj ride without even knowing it. Followed up with 20 min Pilates with bae Aditi and I'm all good, man. would recommend.
sweet. I might do it tomorrow. I’m not going to lie I’m not in the headspace to lift right now. Cardio is my mental health jam though.
It's a 30 min ride. Not weights. I was the same tonight. being railroaded by my underboss at Christmas has me feeling some type of way. this helped.
For those of you that have done Power Zone training: do you feel it was beneficial? Should I do the program? I tend to just do whatever new ride I feel like on any given day without any real rhyme or reason.
I think it is absolutely beneficial, especially if you are new. I felt like I got stuck in the plateau without it when I first got the bike. I think it forces you to do all ride types and it is almost immediate you start to see growth.
I like PZ rides for hiking and skiing since it builds endurance. I've never done the official PZ program, so I can't comment on that. I do PZ Endurance classes 2-3 times a week on longer rides (45/60), and non-PZ interval classes on other days so I can escape Wilpers' music choices and avoid Dennis. Doing these definitely improved my hiking endurance, and added some structure to make sure I mix up my rides types more.
I do PZ Endurance once or twice a week for recovery. I like it. The test is a bitch, but it is cool having your zones on the screen for every ride afterwards.
